Final Fantasy XIIPresumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

The War Background (FFXII)
Did anyone like the fact that the backdrop for the plot was that of war and not anything else?
I mean, it's always great when fantastic stories like these are cooked up in the midst of trouble, but what's the epitome of struggle but war?
It makes for more exciting plot-lines 'cause you can take so many different details out of war and make it blend in with everything else.

i liked that this FF wasn't so concentrated on being a love story, like mainly every other installment in the series.
And I agree about being able to take so much out, I really liked that this storyline was slightly different than the others but still remained loyal to what so many fans return for.

I loved the war background. I liked the fact that it was about a war and there are so many different elements to this Final Fantasy that make it stand out to the others.

Yeah, I agree. You could twist out so many elements of war and put it into a game like Final Fantasy that many aspects aren't even hinted at in any game yet. xD
I wish they'd put in a great battle-type scenario with giant armies clashing in one great cutscene!
That would be pure awesome, IMO. 8D

Despite my gripes with the character interaction, I did enjoy the backdrop of war, actually. In fact (Story wise) I though it was definitely a step up in the series. For me, I guess it was mostly due to the well written dialog and mature level of story telling, which I can’t begin to describe how much I appreciated it in this one.
