Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

Monster variety

I just got this game but I'm already pretty far (lvl 43). I already had agood look at the game and found some negative and postivie points like everyone I guess, what annoyed me the most is the monster variety. At the start of the game I was very fond of the different creatures but once you get further you just see the same enemies but differently coloured.

I think I've already seen 5 sorts of frogs, 5 sorts of bats, 5 sorts of snakes, 10 sorts of cockatrice and wolves and so on. Everytime I enter a new area I just see the same monsters and the uniqueness is far to be sought.It's rlly annoying tome as it makes a lot of areas very boring to play through (tchita uplands leading )

Yeah thats true, they should've put more different monstertypes..
But I don't really look that much how they look like I look more at how fast I kill it

I agree, it didn't matter much since most of 'em died pretty quickly. Keep in mind, Final Fantasy (just like nearly every RPG)'s been doing the different color palate thing since the first one.

This has happened in almost all FF games if you think about it. =p. I am quite use to it by now. Plus, some boards have a couple of unique monsters.

They do seemed to have overused the general shaping of monsters, but it didn't actually bother me to be honest. I believe the main reason for the re0using of old designs, is because Ivalice wasn't always filled with copious amounts of beasts, but just a few kinds. Eventually in certain areas where Mist became rich, they began to mutate.


The second Hunt you partake in is a prime point in case.

The monster variety has already started to get repetetive early on in the game. But then again, even if they did have a larger inventory of monsters...sooner or later with all the levleing and stuff...it would have also gotten repetetive and we would all be arguing about it now justl ike we are. So I think the best thing to do would be to leave it cuz they did an amazing job on the game and they couldnt make that part perfect lol .

I actually didn't notice it too much. I guess I don't really care too much. I was too busy trying to kill them rather then notice how redundant the monsters were.

I am always usually watching the attack bars and stuff slowly scroll towards the name of that character who is about to unleash the killing blow on that poor monster.
