Final Fantasy XIIPresumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

Gambits...
I have been discussing this game for a while with some people, and everyone seems to love those gambits...Honestly, i prefer battling without them cause i think its more challenging...

Well, for me it depends on what you're doing. If I'm levelling up I don't want to be stuck there at the PS2 for hours fighting easy and boring battles. That's where gambits come in useful - you can multitask.
When fighting fun and challenging Boss battles I like to tun them off, cause then yeah - it is more challenging.

seriously, this gambit system is a godsend, inputting commands individually is just so tedious as what gabranth said, and without the gambit system, curing everyones status ailments is just so damn... grrrr!!! I can do it but I takes too much time

I loved them in tough boss battles - proved so effective when going against Tyrant. I lol at the person who said a real FF doesn't need this. Since when are they some kind of expert on battle systems.

I don't like the AI having full control of my characters in battle so I just had the basic games. I think all I did was this.
Party Member 1:
Controlled by me, no gambits.
Party Member 2:
Party leaders target - Attack
Party Member 3:
Ally:Any=<70% HP - Curaga
Party leaders target - Attack
I like to interfere and do the other stuff as because even though you might want them to Cure over say Raise someone, I have been in situations when it could also be best to Raise someone than Cure but with the Gambits on that member will Cure instead. That is why I stick to the basics really. If I am levelling up then I might use the gambits fully then just move the analog while I surf the internet.

I found that gambits were used when you were training and on hell hard bosses. Otherwise on the "mini-bosses" I did it manually but it's to much of a drag and also they make game play much more under control though they have their annoying moments. . . there should be more choices!

Gambits are what the game depends on. Like its been said, its annoying to input seperate commands for each perso. Also, there are many gambits you can create and customize for yourself.
