Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

FFXII Killed Limits...seriously

Seriously, how much damage can a character deal without linking their quickenings? Virtually nothing worth the use.

Yeah the damage increases with linked quickenings but it required a lots of links to get a considerable and significant amount of damage.


I was all "wtf?" when Vaan used his Pyrolism (and I chose not to link to any) and he did less than 1000 damage...

Seriously, look at the cutscenes of the Quickenings, they look as if they could deal a cosiderable amount of damage by themselves though the damage they actually do alone is not even a scracth for boss fights.

What happened to Limits like the Rensokuken/Lion Heart, the Omnislash, The Blitz Ace, My Final Heaven, and many other overdrives/limits from previous FF games?

I really hope they fix this in FFXIII...I want cool and devastating limits not all show attacks that deal some crappy damage....

Even the limits from FFX pawn the limits of FFXII...and that's enough to say.

HAHA, well that's why you need to get quick at them and link as many as possible. Be quick to use Quickenings.

At first I sucked big time at these and only hit the R2 button because I had no idea what to do. After realizing I did jack-shit worth of damage, I realized I had to hit the other buttons to trigger them, and then I was hitting big damage overall.

My only real concern or complaint with the system is that it basically robbed you of all your MP. It should have been a system where you fill up an Overdrive bar and when it fills up, then you can link and trigger all that junk; not waste up very valuable MP.

yeah hopefully they bring back the good old limits that we know and love,maybe even trancelike attacks

I kinda have to agree. The Quickenings on their own? Useless. I know a lot of people complain about IX's Trances, but:

Trance > Quickening ... especially Zidane's Grand Lethal > Pyroclasm

And what makes them even more useless on their own, is that they still use up all of and entire MP bar, even if its less than 1000, which for a powerful move, is pretty pathetic.

But, just think how uber powerful the characters would be if they could do 10000 damage per Quickening If you manage to get a Black Hole on top, that'd be 160000+ damage ... Main bosses dead in a second

yeah in that example grand lethal costs 60mp and pyroclasm costs all mp regardless of how high you get it

And yes, I agree with Busta when saying that quickenings would be better if they didn't had to use MP...valuable MP....

The bosses are not even a challenge with or without having that sword at all. I admit though, that Vayne saved some of the game with his speeches during the Final Battle.
