Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

Yeah, I found that quickenings were way more trouble than they were worth, especially since they drained all mp. I used them once or twice and I did manage to get a 13-chain that was pretty awesome. But I didn't really bother with them after that because I didn't need them. I much prefer single limit breaks that do damage on their own.

I admit though, that Vayne saved some of the game with his speeches during the Final Battle.
Yeah, he had some great lines during the final sequence.

Larsa: You're wrong, brother.
Vayne: Then you'd best find the strength to correct me.

Quickenings are ridiuclously game-breakingly powerful if used correctly. I was able to take out most of the story bosses purely with quickening chains once I had learned the vast majority of them.

The best way to use them effectively is to make sure you keep all 6 of the characters at around the same level as you play. When you get into a boss battle, unload a quickening chain in the usual manner while trying to get as many hits in as possible. Once it's over, trade out one character with a fresh one, and start another chain with that character. Due to the way the system operates, the other character still randomly receive mist charges even after their MP has been depleted, so you should be able to build up another chain of very similar length to that of a party with full MP.

Rinse and repeat for the other two reserved characters and you'll have set off 4 quickening chains. As long as you build them all to at least an average length (which, statistically speaking, you should) there isn't a whole lot that can stand against it (once again, in the story section of the game. Marks will mop the floor with you if you try this stratagy).

Yeah...XII did kill the Limit system. They were not really damaging and...it was just shitty. I rarely even use them. Pfft.

Yeah and I am still wondering who was the moron in Square-Enix who suggested to use both Quickening and Spells with MP. That or perhaps they forgot to add the "adrenaline" bar for limits....

Haha. I don't think any of the other FF's use MP for Limit's and whatnot. =/. I am not sure why the did Quickenings like this. I was highly disspointed.

Also, there were no special moves for the characters. Like..."Quick Hit" , "Mental Break" and that stuff. NO ONE USED TECHNIQUES!

Well they did had some techniques, but they weren't soooo useful and everyone could use them so there was nothing special of them.

I only use 2 techniques...Steal and Libra. Those are the only two that were the most useful in my opinion.

I found the volatility of Quickenings to be distasteful. They all lovely and flashy et cetera, but can't compensate for the individual lack of power. Yes, the player can rack up an awesome amount of damage to singular/multiple foes, but it's not always a dead cert that you'll inflict the desired damage at all.

It added a level of difficulty to the combat system, but from a general gaming point of view it sucked. Waiting for the ability to use powerful commands (like in VII for example) is by far more favourable for me.

I liked X's Overdrive system. I could actually see when I had an overdrive coming and use it to my advantage. Not only when I was low and in time of need or when I had Aura on.

Meh, i have mixed feelings about quickenings.

On one hand, you can pwn anything once you figure out how to chain things together, and that mist charge helped keep the chains going for a long time.

But my god how i HATE that quickenings use MP. Actually the Trances in IX worked that way, but it wasnt as debilitating as in XII because with a Trance it only took SOME of your MP. Not only that, but if you chose not to use the Trance attack itself, you could still use a normal physical attack and do two or three times as much damage. Quickenings just consume all your MP in one shot, and if you mess up, you're screwed.

The one thing that pissed me off about Trances was you couldnt
