| Final Fantasy XII Presumably the last "main" game to be released on the PS2, FF12 broke the tradition of Battle Screens. It was also the sixth game ever to receive a perfect 40/40 score from the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. |

Sweet
lolz why is deafacted such a cool word?
anyway, i agree with vegeta, i think everything that was off was purposefull.
or mabey not, who knows
but it has to be, dont they hire people to play the game before that produce it to triple check all mistakes? no way it was an accident
and i like it anyway, so . . . ha! hehe

Magick is a real word, and is used in reference to the spirit energy of the world... thus it makes total sense in the FF term, specifically in FFXII considering how spells and your MP are so connected with the Mist... both in gameplay and story.
If you pick up any Wiccan text, can almost garuantee they spell the word Magick rather than Magic... becasue its the old way, and as such, holds a more mysterious aura about itself, while changing the meaning only slightly, if at all.
Technick was certainly written as such to match the way they had opted to write Magick, in order to sustain a written pattern that could help represent a cultural evolution within the game.
Manufacted... well... I would say thats definately diliberate as well... if only becasue its never spelled Manufactured in the game and Larsa even seems to emphasize the "act-ed" of it in a very matter-of-factly form of speach. This was also likely done to present the world's cultural evolution, yet its more in a verbal way than the written emphasis of the other two.
Regardless... I don't really understand why any of it would bother anyone.

I see Archadians as British/Roman types. (Culturally and in speech they are Brit, but politically and militarily they are Romans.)
And it's the British versions of the words. It was done to give some characters flavor.
As to the first word complained about.. I think Vaan says 'Manufactured' right after.

You might want to Post another one If you've already posted.
Well, it seems we have made some progression to what we thought of these words.
Seems like we all agree this was purposeful. Words were changed to create a tie with the story line, and others were changed to be made consistent. Some words may be pronounced wrong simply because a different culture made the game. I looked at the cast, and the names of the voice actors were DEFINATLY European.
So you're gonna all hate me for throwing this one in but.
Not only are these words "Wrong", but if you look around in the Bestiary, some common words are also spelled "Wrong", and perhaps if you talk to people, they also have a few "Wrong" words thrown in there.
Hold on though. I'm not trying to ask the same question. This one's different.
Do you think that all the "Misspelled" words refer to game play? When you're watching scenes or you're in towns, it seems like no ones aware - including you're party - about all the fighting and stuff you're doing. Obviously thats because YOU'RE controlling it and the game isn't going to change if you play it differently (I know I know, some games DO change when you play it differently but not this One).
So when the words are "Wrong" in the non-gameplay, I think it discreetly reveals what you can do in gameplay. I.E. like the word Magick is spelled differently because it refers to that oh-so-powerful thing called Mist.
So when you are talking to people in Archades and they are bragging about their position in the Ackadamy, perhaps this relates to a scene in the game?
Also, when you're reading you're Bestiary and it said Alckamast mabey it has something to do with the plot?
You're thought-filled retort?

tl;dr
summary please
like i said before, the words are purposely spelt wrong, therefore it isnt a mistake.
maybe they did it to add to the theme of FFXII, you know add to the anbience?

WAHT?
that makes very little sense,
of course your party know what you are doing, they dont all suffer from amnesia, plus there are the marks which is evidence that they know that they are going around killing baddies and stuff.
i dont think that the purposefull mispelling has any relevance whatsoever to the game.
magick and technik are archaisms, which means they are purposefully spelt incorrectly to make the word appear older or fit in with something set in the past.
eg 'ye olde shope'

Replaying a bit of FFXII last night, cringed when I heard "Manufacted nethicite". It's just so wrong and doesn't fit in at all...

I think 'manufacted' Nethicite is very deliberate and in a way given the time period FFXII was set in, it sounds more fluent than 'manufactured'. Also, I think one of the English voice actors probably would have pointed out that it was spelt and pronounced wrong if it wasn't deliberate.
As for 'Magick' and 'Technick' I'm not really bothered. I know what it means and thats all that matters.
