if you think about this game is closer to the other games than CC or tactics. its a turnbased rpg, tactics was different because it was exactly what it says on the tin a tactics game, CC was a hack n slash game and all the spin offs were related to a certain game so it would make no sense if say dirge of cerberus was called ff12 (it was out before 12 here, not sure about everywhere else) so really it is the only other one that deserves a number. Something i was wondering which won't be answered untill at least next year, why isnt versus xiii just called ff14? they said it just take place in the same universe as xiii and has no other similarities, whos to say the other games don't take place in the same universe?

Is there even like, a thorough plot in FF11? If it did, then I wouldn't mind in being numbered, but if it was on the same level of crap as CC, then yeah, it shouldn't have been numbered.
It's annoying to think that I missed out on one of the "numbers" released in my generation, but I honestly don't treat it as part of the numbered series. It's lame.

FFXI has the most thorough and elaborate story I've seen in any FF and I've played just about all of them.

I find it ridiculous that they numbered this game as being a direct part of the series. Its exclusive to online, you have to continuously pay to play... i dont class it as a part of the numbered series.

YOU don't class it as part of the numbered series? who died and made you head of SE? seriously you can't just pretend something didn't happen just because you don't like it.

Actually yes, there is a plot. I don't understand it that well since I don't actually play the game, but there's a general overview here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XI#Story
Each expansion pack furthers the story in some way, and Wings of the Goddess is worth mentioning since it actually takes place in the past so you get a better grasp on the history of the world. I'd probably play the game if I didn't detest MMO's.

Um...it's exclusive to online? So what about all the Final Fantasy games exclusive to the PS2 then, hmm?

Exactly, with that logic I guess FFXIII should be called "Final Fantasy: PS3" because it requires a PS3 to play it!

And we can call the upcoming remake of IV "Final Fantasy IV: Handheld" or something akin to that
Only online play isn't even that big of a deal anyway, because as far as MMO's go it's really accessible to people. It's on the PS2, the PC, the 360 and I'm sure it'll find its way onto the PS3 too. Although......it is a load of bullshit that they charge you for each separate character you create.

Not to mention that FFXI is on the PS2 and Xbox 360 as well. It's an online game but it's not exclusively to the PC.
Although FFXI is an online game, there is an end. You've beaten every boss in the game, got the best armor and weapon etc. All you need to do is sit back and wait for the next expansion.
And yes... MMORPGS do have a story, it's not just wacking monsters with a stick.

Well, until you hit lvl 10 it is Once you hit lvl 10 then you can actually start getting into the meat of the game. They kinda screwed over people who wanna get it for the 360 though...because on top of the Xbox Live you're paying for, you have to pay $13 a month for XI, and then tack on an extra dollar for each additional character you make.
