Which name would you have prefered?
Ok talking about MMORPGS has inspired me to make this topic - which name do you believe FFXI should have had?
Final Fantasy Online
or
Final Fantasy XI
personally i believe that it should have been called Final Fantasy Online - by labelling it Final Fantasy XI they alienated a lot of fans who had played every single numbered game up until then - mainly because a lot of these people cant afford or aren't allowed to pay per month for a game.

Final Fantasy Online definently. A numbered Final Fantasy game should never be an MMORPG. Calling it Final Fantasy Online would allow them to give the game all the extensions they want.
And now it looks like 14 is going to me a MMORPG and XI will just be a lost FF game.

Final Fantasy Online definitely. They should have had another game for XI or more likely have XII for XI. The game was no way like any of the traditional Final Fantasy games and with others like Tactics, Chrystal Chronicles etc it should have just been made into a spin off. I'm hoping Square Enix listen to the fans this time when it comes to another MMORPG but who knows.

I will always agree that Square Enix should have called this game Final Fantasy Online. However, the game itself still plays along with the very same ideas as every Final Fantasy before and after it. The only difference is that one os online and one is offline.

I strongly agree with Yarub about FFXI being called FFO, because i think many people were confused about if it was an online game or not.

FFO definitely. Makes more sense that way. I mean, IT IS online, is it not? FFXI doesn't seem to fit in with the whole FF series, to be honest. A lot of fans have not played the game, myself included, just because it's online.

I have to agree completely with Final Fantasy Online here as well. Yes, I will not play FFXI unless it becomes free to paly online, and it should have been given an off-shoot name instead of a number in the main series. Now of couorse this may be a bias opinion since I have not even attempted to play even a second of FFXI, but as an FF fan, I would have liked to see it excluded from the main series list.
