I gave this game 2 years of my life and I did it all. except rank 10. I made it up to rank 8. camped half the NMs. Did all the BCNMs. Took my Bard all around the world and made lots of gil. Saved up for months to buy the best gear for three jobs. However, my personal life took such an amazing blow from this that I realized the only way to correct things was to stop playing. and you guys are right, it's still very addicting even though I haven't logged on in several months.

My friends still play and keep telling me how much fun they are having with Puppetmaster and Blue Mages and I need to check it out, come back, and sing the songs they remember me by. I miss training Mary through the Highlands, scaring the hell out of all the new players trying to run to the Dunes. Hell, I even miss the Dunes! There will be a lot of fond memories for a long time to come I'm sure, but I can never go back to the game, regardless of how much I miss it.

I was really enjoying it to begin with, and became addicted very quickly. What struck me initially was that I actually felt like a part of the game - more than I had done with any FF. People would run past you on their own missions, others would be chatting away about football results, someone may approach you to see if you'd like to go on a mission, or ask for some help... all of which seemed to make me feel like I was actually there.

I also enjoyed the battle system as you could choose your fights, allowing quite dynamic gameplay. I thought fishing was an interesting element, as you didn't really have to do it but it offered some advantages if you were willing.

But I agree completely with the points made by Nathaivel, in that the co-op element made it great, but was also its achilles heel.

I've never played the game before, but I heard it wasn't all that good? O.O However, others say it was addicting and fun. Well...I might play it then.

It's all a matter of opinion and the style of MMORPGs you like. If you really like the game engine that World of Warcraft uses, you may not be interested in Final Fantasy XI. However, if getting used to the World of Warcraft engine was difficult or you just don't like it, the Final Fantasy XI engine may really be more your style. If you're unfamiliar with the types of engines that Sony, Sigil, EverQuest, Blizzard, etc. have been using, then this may just be the first system you like and you may love it.

Aside from Phantasy Star Online, this was my first real MMORPG. I got into the game right away, learned everything right away, and it just glued to me. Now I'm addicted and can't get enough of it. The biggest downside is that it does take a really long time to progress through the game because it is a group-oriented atmosphere. You do require help to do most of the game; you can't really solo effectively.

But yeah... it's all a matter of opinion.

This game is fun. Although you sorta have to balance out when you play and stuff cause you can't let it ruin your social life. I know when I get it again I'll play for long hours at night Best time to play too if you live in the UK

Or the best way to play this game is to begin playing when you do not have a social life at all. *raises hand!*

From what I watched while GA played the game, the game looks really fun actually, it can be a bit repetitive when it came down to gaining levels after lv13..

My Personal opinion its a very good game if you enjoy Massive Player games.. Only ppl that haven't like it, are ppl that dont actually take time to enjoy it, or give it a pass off, cause more then they are playing the game..

I know alot of ppl that hate MMORGs, cause they say ppl that play em tend to be stupid and not know a hole in the ground to their sword.. which is a pretty stupid assumption, but everyone has their Opinion.. Not all of em right of course ^^
