Thinking of Buying...

I'm seriously considering buying this game, but before i do i wanna know some things.

Once i've bought, how much is it per month?
Where do i enter the details for th direct debit? (Guessing when you install?)
Can i use VISA ELECTRON to pay monthly?
Can it be installed on more than one computer?
And some info on the game, thanks!!

Once i've bought, how much is it per month? Around a tenner I think.

Where do i enter the details for the direct debit? (Guessing when you install?) Yes when you install it, you should get insructions when you turn the game on or ask in your local gamestore.

Can i use VISA ELECTRON to pay monthly? I think so.

Can it be installed on more than one computer? Yes but with double the price unless you use the same connection.

And some info on the game, thanks!! Its quite slow to level up but this makes the game last ages, you basically have a huge world with missions and clans. You can choose to do missions, level up, do clan missions or play mini games, basically like any other FF game except it lasts longer. You basically have job levels like in Final Fantasy Tactics where you pick a basic job level it up learning new skills and after a while you can learn new jobs and abilitys.

don't listen to them, it's great. It's not an action game though, so if you want something faster paced play World of Warcraft.

On the other hand if you want something that is a challenge instead of being able to be mastered by a 2 year old, and want a community that is worth anything at all, then play FFXI.

Also, it's suprising to think that this game has been out for what, 5 years? and the graphics are still better designed than just about any MMO out right now. I don't know how they got such good looking graphics that are simple enough to be ran on as little computing power as it does.

FFXI is a very good game, but it depends on your tates. It takes a long time to do just about anything in-game, which is arguably a drawback. The community is great, most of the time, though. That's one thing I definately miss about it.

The mission/quest cut scenes are really well done, also.

The graphics...well, that's a matter of opinion. The textures are very grainy and washed out compared to more modern games, IMO. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as FFXI is over five years old, so its acceptable.

Some friends are trying to get me to go back, but I just don't have the time for a game like that anymore.

P.S. I'd also like to point out that WoW can not be "mastered by a 2 year old", no offense. Its a different type of MMO for a different type of player. I play WoW because I don't have as much time to devote to MMOs as I used to. Both are excellent games and appeal to different types of gamers.

"2 year old" is hyperbole, exaggeration to make a point. The same rewards, as in items and gear, are as attainable to a jerkwad idiot as to a good player because it's just too easy to get. The only real difference if you make the effort to try and play well is that you will win at pvp more often. Which gets you what? bragging rights? because even though it takes longer to get pvp gear from losses, you can still get it.

And i said "better designed" graphics, not better graphics period.

They have lower quality textures, and less polygons, but they way they used what they had available made it far more pleasing to the eye, imo, than most other games. I will give WoW that though, they did something similar in using the philosophy that more polygons doesn't necessarily equal 'better graphics'. Some of their areas were really great to look at, my favorite has always been ferelas, it's unfortunate there wasn't alot to do there.

Anywho, I go on so long about it only because i put 2+ years into and left fealing unfulfilled in the end. Nothing realy felt rewarding.

Ummm....that basically goes for every MMORPG out there. Once you quit the few things you get out of are friends and possibly money if you sell your account. The only thing I got from WoW was friends. I had a priest in full tier 2 and I could have sold her before Naxxramas for a few hundred dollars.

So, then what is the difference between FFXI and WoW in armor wise? FFXI you get armor that is the equivalent to epic armor in WoW. There are no instances and bosses are outside. Not to mention you got the Japanese farmers waiting for the next spawn. In every MMORPG if you want gittlering uber armor you have to put out. In every MMORPG it takes time to get the best armor at the moment. You have to work for it. Also, of course it gets your bragging rights.

As for the community thing about WoW....Yes there are assholes, trolls, kids, elitist, attention whores etc. In every MMORPG there are these types of people. You find people that you get along with as well. I quit WoW after BC and I still talk to my old guild mates.

for one there is no equivalent in WoW to the harder armor to get in FFXI, Relic weapons take most people around 2 years to complete and hundreds of millions of gil.(Though in the end you are right, after its over all you really gain is friends). I can also tell you havent played FFXI in awhile cause there are now several alternatives to camping land HNMs.

And not to say all WoW players are kids, morons, elitist etc(theres a lot of cool people playing) but theres definitely a lot more in WoW than FFXI... Why? Because in WoW you can do a lot solo, sure its online and theres a lot of people playing, but you dont have to play with other people. In FFXI these kind of people are weeded out beacuse the game forces you to do most everything important in groups, making the percentage of decent people pretty high in the end.

Yeah, I don't know the newer updates on FFXI. WoW 'uber' armor is easier to obtain but it's all luck and how cooperative your team is. With FFXI it seems it involves more time obtaining armor, weapons and person chocobo to me. Which I can see it's more rewarding than that sitting around every week in the same area fighting the same monster.

Haha, no I was telling that to Smapdi. WoW is solo until you reach the max level. You can choose to solo PVP or prove yourself worthy and join a guild. Need to work your way up the social status.

The issue that I keep hearing with FFXI is finding a group. Then you find a group
