Job's Job mix up :/
i was looking on a forum that only works around FFXI, and i saw somebody saying that the primary tanking job is outclasses by another class... with other words, War vs Pld
is this true? and why?

When the game first came out, all there was was Warrior and Paladin for tanking. Paladin was the true tank for parties, and warrior was a melee job that could also be used for tanking if needed. Warrior was more focused on levels up through 30 or so; paladin can be obtained at level 30. Paladins are much better at keeping the hate on them and keeping themselves alive, whereas all warriors have to keep hate on them is provoke; paladins have cures, flash, cover, etc..
However, when Rise of Zilart released, a new job was introduced: ninja. The ninja was not originally designed to be a tank. However, if used correctly, the ninja would be the best choice for tanking in parties. Ninjas subbing warrior would be able to use provoke as well as their enfeebling. The best attribute to a ninja though is their shadows. They have a spell that grants them three blinks and four blinks allowing them to dodge an attack that many times.
While Square Enix may not have planned on it being a tank, it worked out that way anyways. Without completely changing the job and taking away their blinks, Square Enix can't really do much about it. Instead, they play along and let it be a tank.

but the page clearly states that the warrior is the "shield" for his party... i understand that paladins can heal themselves, but shouldn't they come with a physical weakness warriors don't have, just to balance things out and keeping the warrior, which the page states, as the main tanking job?
in fact this actually makes warriors useless, right? since other jobs can do anything they can much better, for example, a ninja/paladin can tank better, and a black mage can dps better... so what's the use?

Well, a NIN/PLD is completely worthless. A warrior is just a melee job. A paladin is a true tank because they're able to control hate better. Warriors are good for taking hate off the paladin if things go wrong so the paladin can get hate back.
But you're right, anything you'd read in a book or old websites will be incorrect as things in online gameplay change quite frequently.

i wasn't suggestion a NIN/PLD "hybrid" i was talking about ninja OR paladin, that's why i wrote them all out instead of using initials...
