Contacting someone in game.

OK heres the situation. A friend of mine that i used to play a different game with now plays FFXI. I havent got to talk with this friend in long time. I do not play FFXI but I do have Playonline account.

I know the server, and character name, but every time i do a search, it comes up not found. I know my friend plays every day, and the times that they play. I know they could have online status invisable.

I really want to contact this friend, is there a way to do it, without installing the game?

Oh and if you are not invisable in game does it effect your playonline status?

Any help would be awsome

If s/he has invisible status on, you won't be able to find him/her in the PlayOnline friend search thinger to be able to add him/her to your friends list. The only way to be able to locate them would be to contact them outside of Final Fantasy XI somehow, or install Final Fantasy XI and search for them that way.
