Why Can't
Two of the same Aeon Fight each other?
When you battle Belgemine (or whatever her name is) in Remium temple, you can't - for example - make your Valefor fight Valefor, or Your Anima fight her Anime.
Is there any particular reason why?
I thought it may have been something to do with the Aeons coming from the same Fayth, therefore not being able to battle itself, but that sounds stupid :/
Any thoughts?

Yeah, I thought the same thing, I mean, I thought there can't possibly be two of the same kind of aeon.
Maybe that's the only reason why.

Oh shit. I am not sure. I did notice it though. I guess it has something to do with the Fayth's.

Because there's only one of each Aeon. I.e. there's only one Valefor, one Shiva, one Ifrit etc.

So, are you saying that Only one can be called at a time? I guess that makes sense.

Yes, it does make sense, but it's kinda hard to imagine an aeon who was once fighting alongside you one moment and then fighting to defeat you in the next. xD

Except, in the UK version there are dark aeons... which you can fight with your regular aeons of the same type.

If the two same aeons fought each other and one of them would lose they would both die. That's what I think

True, that there is only on Fayth for each Aeon but when you think about it, Yuna wasn't the only Summoner on her Pilgramage at that time (Donna and Isaaru) so you're saying that if any two Summoners wanted to use the same Aeon at the same time, it couldn't be done?
I think it could be done...

No, one of my theories will go hand in hand with what both you and Pooley have said.
I think the Fayth used to Summon the same Aeon at the same time will split in two to compensate, otherwise if two Summoners are using the same Aeons at the same time but in different places and one of those dies, the other Summoner's will fade also leaving them open.
My only other theory is this, the Aeon's AI isn't sophisticated enough to recognise an Aeon of the same type, for example if you fought Belgemine's Ifrit with your Ifrit, her Ifrit will heal yours without meaning to because Ifrit absorbs Fire...the same will go with your Ixion against hers and Shiva also, so naturally SE just did the same for the non-elemental Aeons (Bahamut, Yojimbo, Anima etc.) just to make it, for lack of a better word, fair
