Tidus' Dream

Near the beginning of the dream, Tidus has a dream about Yuna and Rikku, he like plans to run away with Yuna, and then Rikku appears and starts shreiking that he's going to take her to Zanarkand. Then he does that weird jogging thing and Jecht appears and calls him names.

xD Very weird.

I never fully understood the dream, it looks like early on in development they were gonna have a love triangle, but cancelled it. But, what's with the weird jogging? O_O

I think maybe at that time he was torn between the two girls? He didn't know either of them very well at that point in time.

I think the 'weird jogging thing' is something Tidus does when he's excited or anxious. I do the same thing when I get impatient. xD

As far as the dream goes, I just assumed it was as Rydia said. Just him trying to figure out his interests between Rikku and Yuna, with Jecht bothering him as usual. There's probably something symbolic in there, but I was never arsed enough to find out.

I will go with both of what the above said. =D.

Rikku had saved his life and Yuna caught his eye. So, meh, he was struggling with the people he had just met.

Huh? Hmm, I don't remember that part. This is why I have to play FFX again. There was so many things I missed. I didn't even know there could have been a potential love triangle. I honestly did not see any sort of chemistry between Tidus and Rikku...but then again, it was years ago since I last played.

Anyway, did a few research and came across a site called Dream Image. Spoilers below.

Before Tidus can utter a response, Rikku comes racing down the dock towards them in her scuba diving outfit and all. Tidus hasn't seen Rikku in a while, and of all places, she shows up in his dream.

Jogging on the spot, Rikku angrily tells Tidus, "Hey! You promised to go to Zanarkand with me!" As the player, we suddenly realize what's going on -- Tidus has developed a crush on both the adorable Rikku and the quiet, shy summoner Yuna! He's having conflicting feelings on which girl he should "go for", revealing that Tidus -- like most males -- tends to have girls on the mind, and the unsettling reality that he may never be able to go home doesn't stop him from developing crushes on the pretty girls around him.

At this point, Tidus' dream changes and he suddenly goes from being a seventeen-year old boy to a ten-year old child. In his child form, little Tidus was crying and his father, Jecht, was nearby taunting him, telling him that he can never amount to anything and that he's nothing but a cry baby. We get the feeling that Tidus has a sort of father-complex and understand his deep hatred for his father just a little more.

Oddly enough, Yuna and Rikku never left his dream. They stood alongside him, and cheered the young Tidus on, telling him to stand up for himself and express his true feelings. Their encouragement allows Tidus to finally shout the words, "I hate you!" to his father, something he has been dying to say but could never say, since it would be awkward for Tidus, the star player of the Zanarkand Abes to announce to the world that he despises his father, the legendary blitzball player, and have the media dig into his private life. Yuna and Rikku's encouragement is what he needed the most when he was ten years old -- when he had nobody to cheer him on and support him when he was feeling down. Perhaps what Tidus really needed was some motherly love, and in his dream, Yuna and Rikku were the females there to support him.

This dream proves that Tidus had always felt a bit lost and incapable of expressing his feelings properly. To the world, he had always needed to put up a protective wall, show the people a happy face and that there is nothing bothering him. However, this dream clearly shows that the pressure of it all is seriously weighing down on his shoulders, especially when he cannot find a good way to release the extra energy.

I didn't think nothing of it at all. I don't really read much into things t all tbh

I just thought it was a weird dream he was having and left it at taht lol

Like other's have said, it was just a weird dream.

And there's the bit with Jecht at the end, so maybe it was more about how his father would put him down about the matters of romance.

"You, with a woman?" So, yeah.

Yeah, I agree, I just thought Tidus and his dreaming was whack so I just left it there...
Although this gives me ideas about what other character symbolism is hidden in these whack parts of FFX...
That was one Whack game... awesome though
