The Weapon System
Okay, I have mixed feelings about the weapon system in FFX.
I loved how yout got things such as 'Strength +5%' and things but I hated how that some of the weapon designs didn't change. It annoyed me so greatly. I liked how in FFVIII you could upgrade your weapons and things.
Did anyone else feel this way?

I liked it, some of the weapons changed if you added certain abilitys to it. it would have been stupid IMO for the weapons to change each time you added an ability to it - not to mention it would have been a huge strain on the artists.

That never bothered me to be honest. As long as the weapon didn't look like it belonged in the hands of a nancy-boy, I was okay with what the weapons generally looked like.
I suppose it would've been nice to have some extra designs, but it didn't impair my enjoyment of the game at all.

No, of course it didn't affect my judgement and joy of the game throughout but it was something I noticed on the second playthrough.

Yeah I would like more designs for each type of weapon. I mean brotherhood looks exactly like an excalibur, but the excalibur is far more powerful.

Meh, I didn't mind the weapon system here at all. To change what the weapon looked like with every upgrade, would, as AG has already said, would have been unfeasible for the artists. xD
That's pretty much all, it's all about the abilities anyway, and not the looks. Though yeah some weapons looked somewhat alike...

I thought the weapon system was fine. nothing wrong with it at all. I liked aurons and tidus' swords because of the creativity put in them, they weren't just dull, shiny silver longswords.
Even Auron's first longsword had quite an elegance and mysticness to it. just wait to you see his Masamune...niice

Later in the game, you can alter the design of Wantz's selection of weapons via customization of certain abilities associated with different steels. This might also be achievable early on in the game too, even with weapons dropped by monsters and abilities predetermined. E.g. A Slasher with Strength +xx% could be forged into the Twilight Steel variety if you add Silencetouch, Sleeptouch, Poisontouch etc into one of the empty slots. (funny how these modifications can happen when there doesn't appear to be any blacksmith around in the group )
As I'm also aware, Tidus has 7 different types of swords. The same amount as Squall's gunblades.

I didn't really focus on the weapons style of FFX as much as I did of improving my strength and power of the characters. If my characters had a high Strength, I would knock out harder enemies.
The only time I really was concerned about the abilities my weapons carried with it, was when I was capturing fiends for the Monster Arena, or when I was collecting and maxxing out the Celestial Weapons.

i found this system way better then anything i've ever seen
your weapon doesn't have to be improved and renewed all the time
for example, in FFXII you had a worthless weapon at the start that could do fine, but at the end, the weapon would be so outdated because it scaled pretty bad with your stats
the FFX weapons, were all based on the stats of the character, meaning you could get a weak weapon, and use it to complete the whole game
you could throw in a bonus of 5% strength or magic to increase your damage, but it wasn't neccesary..
that's what i like so much about FFX's weapon system
