Tidus is great and his voice actor did suit him, you can really see how he changes over the story, only thing i found weird is how know one ever asked or mentioned his name in the game.

The only reason I like Tidus is because of his clothes and the fact he gets REALLY hot graffix. :]

Azmatikz, the reason why is because you can name the character yourself. I kept him as Tidus but you could have called him anything you wanted to.

Tidus' voice actor pretty much ruined the character for me. I didn't even think he was bad character-wise. But I ended up hating his character with a passion because of his voice. In fact, the main reason that I ended up disliking the entire game is because of the horrible horrible voice acting. Sad really.
Eh, just so this doesn't sound like a hate rant, his character was pretty decent.

That scene was scary enough to earn itself a place in Resident Evil lol.

lol I think James Arnold Taylor was great as the voice over... I love the game basically because of the voice overs... I thought they were brilliant. The "laughing" bit made me cringe yes but they were in horrible moments in there lives and they wanted to force laughter out... HA HA HA HA HA
she was just as bad and then they crease up and start laughing properly. It was an ok scene lol kinda*
Also did u know... James Arnold Taylor was the voice of Michaelangelo in TMNT (The Movie)

Tidus was alright… I can’t really say that I had a strong dislike for him. If anything… it was more of dislike for the actual design of his character, including the voice acting (a little too high pitched at times for my taste).
As for being whiney or a crybaby… I think it’s the stigma of his earlier character that followed him throughout the game more than anything else (with Jecht labeling him a crybaby as well as Auron). That and the often high pitched voice acting made him sound a little whiney at times, in my opinion of course.
Anyway, with all that said, I definitely wound up appreciating his character a whole lot more in the end.

Something inside me makes me ask myself: is the poor kid really so bad?
Generally, when people complain about Tidus they bring up two things: that he whines too much and that James Arnold Taylor's voice acting is awful.
But this is something I just don't agree with. The only time Tidus openly complained was on the Al-Bhed ship and the only thing he said was that he was hungry. Tidus pretty much braved what was thrown at him.
Which brings me to this point. Wouldn't you be scared if you were thrown into something as difficult and dangerous as he was? I mean he was thrown not only into a new world but apparently a new time, where there a constant threat of destruction by this mysterious beast that turns out to be none other than his father. And yet people claim that he's a whiny bitch. Yes, he tended to be emotional at times, but with good reason. Who wouldn't be? Unless you were a stone. Tidus is one of the most human characters I've seen in FF, and very well developed too.
Plus he was the one who insisted in finding another way of defeating Sin. If it wasn't for that all of Spira would still be suffering and Yuna would be dead. The kid actually had balls. He could've said "Screw this, this is not my world and why do I need to save this Yuna chick". He was willing to sacrifice himself in order to save Spira and Yuna.

yeah, i agree totally with what she said. tidus isn't that bad. he's quite usefull when you think about it. he's saved my ass in the game more than once. Besides we need a protagonist and he fitted his role perfectly because we aren't all perfect. not even the legendary (and my favoutite FF character) Auron who turns out to be an unsent. he was killed by yunalesca because of his love for his friends, commitment and nobility. in the end thats what killed him.
So I say...Tidus rocks...woot

I genuinely like Tidus. But I also love making fun of him. And James Arnold Taylor was not an asset to this game.
