getting all the summons on your journey showed that you were strong enough for the final summoning to defeat sin.

Everyone is saying how you have to prove yourself to Lady Yunalesca...but what does she care? She knows you're going to die. It would be easier just to get the Final Summoning and just get it done with. I suppose you could think of it as your mind just can't handle the Final Summoning without all the training?

She cares because she wants to make for certain that the summoner has been trained physically as well as mentally for this. She wants a summoner who has the strength to perform the Final Summoning and 'defeat' Sin. Your body and your mind both need to be strong enough to perform such a task, hence why Yunalesca wants you to prove yourself. That's why sends fiends after you to test the summoner's strength. The training is very essential to become High Summoner.

gathering all the summons along the path to zanarkand are what train the summoner's body and mind. the summoner needs to get the fayth's approval from every temple in order to perform the final summoning anyway.

all of the other aeons are preparational training so the summoner is ready to call the final aeon and then well u know give there life to kill sin for like 10 years

In the beginning the aeons helped and you dont get the Final Summon straight away.

I agree. Actually, it's never been my theory. I thought they DID need to have all of the aeons to get the Final Summoning. I think Wakka did mention about how Yuna needs to go to every temple and pray, though... Now I have to play the game again. xD

Getting all the summons prepares you to get the Final Summon. It builds your character and Yuna's strength enough to obtain the summon.

If she just went out and tried to get the Final Summon she would not be able to handle it. That's why each Aeon is stronger each time. Mhm...
