Someone actually knows his name!

Ok I just happened to be playing through FFx again for something to do. So Tidus's name is like never said by anyone through out the game right? Well I found one spot early in the begining where it actually is said, dont have a photo but bear with me.

After Kilika is destroyed and you have controll of Tidus, go left where the Aurochs are fixing the bridge. Letty will stop you and say, "Tidus, watch your step! It's not safe this way. Then your forced around.

I think this is the only spot is name is mentioned.

I do think it's said a lot in dialogue boxes... it's just never said in conjunction with voice acting, due to the fact that you get to choose his name.

It is said when you run at the big bridge in Zanarkand just before the intro, i think there is a guy who says, "When I grow up, I'm going to play on your team Tidus!"

Is it in jsut text only or in voice?

It's just in text. It does not say Tidus' name in VO's due to you choosing his name. =).

This is true, his name is not mentioned in spoken scenes because you can change his name, it would be a mega-pain to program the game to say the edited name in subtitles as well as programming the voices to speak the name, so they just left it out.

I know the name can be changed this is just like the first spot that I saw is name spoken in text. It's been so long since I played and I remered it that not even in text it was spoken. So I just saw it and it's like wait, someone does know his name.

the answer has been stated several times, only in dialogues without VO's they use his name

which makes me think it would've been a LOT better to leave it impossible to change his name
same goes for the Aeons

only Anima has been spoken about with VO's(probably because she's Seymour's Aeon), the others never
i find it quite odd you can change Aeon's names in the first place, considering they are sentient beings with a name already..

it leaves a lot of annoyance in FFX-2 as well where Yuna never speaks to the Aeons with their name or about Tidus with his name just "them", "the aeons" or "him" for each respectively

(much like warlock demons in world of warcraft)

I agree with Raptorg here. I mean I'm not really keen on changing my character names. I like it to be personal between between those involved character-wise and I want to here them say each other's name instead of "You", "him", "her", etc...

A game where all the characters treat each other like real humans and close friends and comrades, is a great game-feel to me.

To the best of my knowledge, I’ve only seen it in the dialog boxes as well; that is, if you chose the default name. Anyway, as it’s already been said, it’s due to the ability of being able to choose a name for Tidus.
