Only Zanarkand?

So, like...In Tidus' Zanarkand, was there only...Zanarkand? No, Luca, Killika, or any of the sort?

So, after one thousand years all this stuff was built?

Zanarkand looked HUGE and the ruins were small. =/.

The question is: Was Tidus' Zanarkand the only place around at that time?

damn...why didnt i think of this?

that's a really good question. tidus never mentioned anything except zanarkand and he had no idea what any of the places were. its wierd, maybe no one in the city knew about the world outside of it? maybe it was there and no one bothered to explore, there's no way zanarkand took up all of spira.

I was thinking the same. I mean, Tidus didn't even know what Spira WAS! x___X.

So, Zanarkand was the onlyyyy place to have been? Ugh. My brain hurts. haha.

lol, really though, tidus explains zanarkand as if its a whole different planet then spira.

i've got a theory though. it's a little farfetched though.

alright so a thousand years ago is when tidus' zanarkand existed right? well i'd say that maybe zanarkand really WAS huge and took up all of spira. sin comes and destroys everything, even shakes the face of the planet. the main continent breaks off into a bunch of islands (besaid, kilika, etc.) the survivors start a new life on all of these islands and there you have it.

there's my theory.

Hmm, you're right...I don't think they really explained the old Zanarkand well enough, or at least gave it a backstory of some sort. I know that there's the "Dream Zanarkand", summoned by Yu Yevon and was kinda hidden to prevent the people of Spira from discovering it. I'll try and research some more about this...

I don't really think Tidus' Zanarkand was the only place around at that time. Sure they didn't really go into any explanations about it, and it is weird that there is still a ruins at Zanarkand but not really anywhere else in Spira, but I think thats all because from the time Sin arrived, maybe they were never able to rebuild Zanarkand because of Sin and how the Summoners Pilgrimage like affected it or something like that.

But I think it was mentioned somewhere a war between Zanarkand and Bevelle 1000 years before the events in FFX so Zanarkand couldn't possibly be the only place at that time. But when they went to Bevelle it didn't even seem familier to Tidus so I don't know it's very confusing.

Bevelle should be there, since a war broke out between these two cities which prompted Yu Yevon to build Sin, therefore creating the menace that was to haunt Spira for many years to come.

It seems as if Luca, and Kilika, and all of those places would have existed in Tidus' "time". Not necessarily the towns, but the locations most certainly should have been there. If I recall correctly...Tidus comes from Zanarkand 1000 years ago. And, 1000 years in the future, while he's with Yuna and co., the party visits the Zanarkand ruins which is actually a huge temple (so to say).

All of the locations are in the same places, and have existed all along....or so it seems...

Either:
It's just that 1000 years in the future, Tidus does not recognize the rest of the world, and he only remembers Zanarkand because it was so familiar to him.
Or:
Zanarkand is the only place that Tidus can recognize because that's the birthplace that the Fayth created him with.
