It says that he was a traitor. He obviously did something that opposed the teachings of Yevon or something to foil their plans. Lulu says he was a monk when he defied the teachings and was sentenced, not dead.

We never know how he defied the teachings. And the game never stated that he died in the ruins, just sentenced to them. So he could've been dead when he got there.
I'm not saying my theory's right. But there is nothing in the game that points to it being wrong either. With all the game dialoge you have there, they still don't say what he did to defy the teachings. All we know is that he's an unsent. Whether or not he was dead when he got there is open to discussion.

Common sense: wouldn't you think that if he was unsent, they would have sent him to the Farplane instead of the Ruins to prevent him from becoming a fiend and terrorizing people in the future? Sure the Ruins was a punishment, but if he was unsent, the easiest way to rid him for good would be to Farplane his ass.

True......I actually don't have comeback for that one..................theory proven wrong, let's move on then..............
Like I said, he could've been the first 'Unsent' to take the form that Auron and the Measters did. Maybe Yevon wanted to study him and it backfired on them or something.
There's really no way to say for certain what was Omega's ultimate fate. But it would really interest me to know what he did that was bad enough to have Yevon banish him like they did.

I'm not really buying it. Although an interesting theory on the whole, it's not very likely that someone will have engaged in similar methods to Yu Yevon.
Similar such cases to Omega are the 'unsent' in Via Infinito. Kinoc morphs into Aranea, Jyscal into Black Elemental, Mika into Concherer (omfg I hated that boss), Yunalesca into Chac, and Zaon into Paragon. I believe Omega was merely the result of animated pyreflies.
I bolded the above for a reason. Oh wow, Paragon happens to look a lot like Zaon! I believe Paragon to be the form of Yunalesca's Final Aeon. But only because the two afore mentioned being bear striking resemblances to one another. Mainly for colours and patter design. >.>
Now, is it mere coincidence that Omega, Nemesis, and Ultima all bear identical features to Paragon; Zaon? Definitely a connection there, meaning it was highly unlikely that Omega adopted a method similar to that of Big Bad. Perhaps Zaon had powerful influence through pyreflies?
Unless of course the design of those Weapons were not intentionally linked. >.>

I never got to Paragon, but after looking it up on Wikipedia, it says that it's just the same character model as Nemesis only its in FFX-2. So if it re-appeared in FFX-2, it would only really help support the theory that Omega resummoned his armor. First being Omega, then Nemesis, then Paragon... each one with the same look only stronger than the last.

it sounds like a huge conspirqacy to me, but it does make perfect sense. I didn't find omega to be that hard of a boss to be honest though. That damn Yevon is surrounded by conspiracy

As far as I know...
Omega was a Monk who defied the teachings of Yevon and was banished to Omega Ruins where out of his hatred toward Yevon turned into a terrible Fiend.
Your theory is a good one AT and it puts all the pieces behind Omega and his spat with Yevon into perspective but again, it's just one of those things that SE has left for us all to speculate, this would make a very good Fan Fic

I doubt that Zaon had anything to do with Omega. Omega was born 300 years after Zaon was used as the final summoning.
