Infamous laughing scene...
I wanted to see if it was just as embarrassing...and it isn't! It's just extremely lulzworthy. Now, I have to admit, the Japanese voice actor for Tidus is much better. It's the guy who voices Ichigo on Bleach, so he doesn't sound all whiny. However.......

They sound like a couple of crows xD

I agree that the VA for the Japanese Tidus is better, and the one for Yuna is waaay better, but the laughs are the same to me. I think they sounded like awful in both.
And actually, the English one might not have been so bad except the VA seemed like he was trying to copy the sound of the Japanese VA's laugh (the crow-ish sound).

Yeah but the English VA sooo failed at making the crow sound. This guy did did it fine though, and it's just plain hilarious.
And I like Wakka's VA so much better too. He sounds like an idiot but at least there's no Jamaican accent.

Yeah, the Japanese one does manage to be more funny rather than gross.
No pseudo-Hawaiian accent for Japanese Wakka, which is nice. He does have an Okinawan accent, but it doesn't sound all butchered like the Hawaiian one (most people thought it was Jamaican).

Tidus VA is much better in Japanese. Although the fake laughing still seemed a bit weird to me, but overall the acting was done better. Yuna's voice is better in the Japanese version but Yuna's english VA wasn't too bad. Yuna's english VA made her sound too timid and soft, but I thought it was better than most of the English voices.
I wish Square added an option to change dudded or subbed voices. I don't see why not? Maybe not enough disk space? .Hack and Soul Calibur you were able to change voices.

I think the laughing scene would have been a lot more poignant had it had different voice actors, or better more REALISTIC laughter, in theory it would have been a beautiful scene...not one which could be classed as the most cringeworthy FF scene ever XD

CAW! CAW!
*Tidus flaps arms and Yuna follows suit*
I agree with AG...it COULD have been a very touching scene...actually, given the context it SHOULD have been a very touching scene. It's not that hard to fake an authentic-sounding laugh, I don't know why both the American and Japanese VA's butchered that scene.

Well, it's not like they were trying to sound like real laughs, anyway. I mean, they laugh for real for a couple seconds after the awful fake one, so it's not like they couldn't.
The point of it was that they have put on a farce of happiness to bring joy to Spira.
I dunno. I despise the VAs of FFX, but the script itself still touched me. There's nothing like acting like an idiot in front of, and with, the one you love.
