I just never "got" that scene. I mean, all of Spira is covered with fiends. It didn't need to be destroyed. And as I said earlier, I felt sure that some Al-Bhed were still alive in there. As much as I like Cid, I think it was a silly decision. Even if it was overrun with fiends, why not go back later and eliminate them? Personally, I just think he wanted to try out his cool new weapons, like the Yanks during Vietnam.

It was sad when they all started singing and you can see Rikku starting to cry and then Tidus asks "whats going on" and she replies soemthing like "we are blowing up our home" that was a very sad part int he game.
