Connecting up the Timeline.
To this day, I'm still unsure about the entire chain of events. If I understand correctly;
After the Machina War, Yu Yevon brought Sin upon Spira and destroyed Zanarkand - Tidus and Jecht's Zanarkand. The Fayth, reluctant to let such a beautiful city die, kept the city alive in their dreams - thus bringing Tidus and Jecht into our story.
I am still unsure as to how Tidus and Jecht both arrived in the present-day Spira. Also, I have no idea how both Auron and Sin were able to go between both the Dream Zanarkand and Spira.
I think that, if this is explained, I'd be able to follow it better and maybe piece the rest up myself. Something just doesn't add up, though.

It was through Sin. Apprantely, it can "transport" people through these two places. How, I don't know.

Not sure if you saw the timeline, but here it is anyway: http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/fi...ers-13554.html
Sin is able to go in-between worlds because he is created by Yu-Yevon...and I suppose that the creator would be able to choose just how far and the capabilities of his own creation. That's the only explanation I could think of...that naturally, since Yu Yevon converted his people (those who were still alive) to become Fayth, and the Fayth summoned a likeness from the Old Zanarkand, then in a way, Dream Zanarkand was really also created by Yevon. Kinda see the connection...?
Basically, Yu Yevon created Fayth, and Fayth created Dream Zanarkand (through Yevon), Yevon then creates Sin, and so...his creation (Sin) is also able to go to Dream Zanarkand (also his creation).
As far as Auron goes, since he is unsent and no longer human, but composed of pyreflies, it is only natural that he is able to ride Sin in-between worlds. Apparently, Jecht is able to exert some sort of his own control inside Sin - reason why he is able to take Auron to Dream Zanarkand and at the same time communicate with him...because he wants Auron to watch over Tidus. And then of course, Jecht finally decided to bring Tidus over to Spira, in hopes of having his own son defeat "Sin" for good. So, both Auron and Tidus makes a trip to Spira, with Sin being their transportation.
As for Jecht, (yeah I know, I'm going out of order here), well, Jecht was swimming in the water of Dream Zanarkand, and Sin just so happened to be there. Jecht comes in contact with Sin, and poof, off to Spira.

Yeah, more or less. Yu Yevon uses the faith that are mounted on Mt. Gagazet to summon the dream Zanarkand, while incased inside Sin. I assume, but am not sure, that the dream Zanarkand is somewhere inside Sin, that would explain there connection to one another. Time flows normaly as it would outside Sin. To back that up, Jecht dissapeared from Zanarkand 10 years and 3 months prior to the start of FFX according to Tidus, and according to Yuna, that's the day Jecht showed up in Spira.
Auron was able to make the trip to Zanarkand by venturing inside Sin because he's an unsent. Which is the same way Seymore made it inside Sin at the end of the game.

Um, Dream Zanarkand is not inside Sin. Dream Zanarkand is located in the world of Spira, far out from the rest of civilization, but hidden. Think of it as some sort of dimension - its own little world that people cannot see. And when Sin touched Jecht and Tidus, they were then transported to the "real world" of Spira, which is how they are able to become "real" in a way. Even the Fayth mentioned that they were "more than just a dream now" as soon as they reached Spira.
Remember, Jecht was swimming in the waters of Dream Zanarkand, and at the same time, Sin happened to be in the waters too. (That's my explanation to prove that Dream Zanarkand is not inside Sin.)

Just me being nit-picky, but Yu Yevon didn't summon Sin to destroy Zanarkand - it was summoned to destroy the machina Bevelle was using, which consequently backfired as Zanarkand also used machina; thus the leveling of the city.
As stated, Sin is the conduit between many things in Spira, something which we see evident in the cycle of death, and the Dream Zanarkand. Though how he's able to travel to said 'spectral' world has not been explained, though we can surmise that Sin is Yu Yevon's power in its entirety, thus vaguely explaining his ability to pass through worlds on a whim.
We all know the means of how Jecht and Tidus arrived in Spira, though as far as I'm aware no evidential explanation has been provided for us. Though from what I've seen, Sin created some form of portal by which to absorb the content of Dream Zanarkand and transport it accordingly.
Summin' to do with pyreflies.

That's something that I still don't understand at all. If Tidus and Jecht became "more than just dreams" then at the end, when the Fayth stopped dreaming, why did Tidus disappear like dreams do? If he became more than just a dream, then you'd think he wouldn't have disappeared... That's something that still seems rather off to me...

I believe he was referring to the point of their existence. The point of all dreams was to simply live on in Dream Zanarkand, whereas outside of the dream world they were technically meaningless entities - until the both of them acted as catalysts for the Fayth to rest.

Yes, that does make sense. However, I really feel that they should have better explained it or at least not have the Fayth say "You're more than just dreams now." It leaves things in a slight state of confusion and wondering why the inevitable happened when the fayth stopped dreaming. Thanks for explaining it though. It still seems a bit strange, but yeah...Anyway, sorry to take this off topic. Carry on!
