I always choose 10 minutes and its always enough. Waiting to give the final blow until your time is almost up so you get the most points.
Then I started playing the Japanese version. Now when you beat Ifrit in that. The time goes on. So I had like 10 sec left to run back to the entrance. Needles to say it wasn't enough and it was game over for me. Second time I knew this, so it was easier. I just beat the crap out of Ifrit and ran back. Then waited in front of the entrance for the time to pass by, you know to get best points. SO with 7 seconds left I step out. Only to find out even there time is still running. I run up to the guys standing there and time stops at 2 seconds left. I almost trew the controller at the tv. Darn Japs.

i allways do it with a realistic time like 30 or 40 more likely 40 it give you chance to explore a little and get ready with magic
thats why you press the two little buttons called l2 and r2

I always set it to ten minutes and finish in the last seven seconds, for the most time. I always end up sitting there pointlessly, though, for a few minutes in the boss fight.

I usually go for the 10 minute time, but I don't think I managed to get the extra points, since I managed to run out of time runs during the victory dance sequence at the end of the battle

About...8 mins or less? I find a lot of my time is spend waiting for the clock to run down so I can get the perfect score, so 10 mins has been sufficient for all my playthroughs.
