Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy.

Worth a Replay?

You should know from my Squall rant topic, that I am not a fan of Squall or Final Fantasy VIII in general. However, it was one of the games that I didn't give much attention to when I played through it. It never pulled me in and hooked me like the other games did. So my question to you, is should I replay it? There has to be a better plot than I give it credit for. I'll admit there was a lot I didn't understand when I played through the game. Maybe now that I'm older, I'll see things in the game that I can appreciate.

I want to hear from the FF8-haters and the FF8-lovers. Even if the characters were crap, did I underestimate the plot? Should I replay it to see if it can redeem itself? Even if I don't finish it, is it worth trying again? Cause I never got Rogunsieksi.knios999sjhieni or whatever Squall's final overdrive is. I missed half the summons. Halfway through the game, I just wanted the game to end. Whatever interest I had before that point, I completely lost afterwards.

Yes it's worth a replay. I even consider one myself, but we know that's not gonna happen for a while.

It's a game I rushed through myself and wish I would have paid more attention to, but I doubt my affection levels for the main characters willrise at all. I fell in love more with the GF's than I did with the characters, so it was already a weirdly set-up game for me right from the get-go. I mean, I got more excited finding out how to get Diablos than I did picking up any of the main characters in the game.

I hate Selphie.

I definitely think a replay is well worth it though and will bring you back to things you totally overlooked the first play-through.

I hate Irvine too.

I think the story was pretty good, even if I didn't like the story as much as the story in the other FFs for the Playstation. But I have to say that Esthar is very cool .

No, Aztec's already beaten the game, it's just been about 4 years though since he last beat it. He's doing it more to see if he can get into the story even remotely more than the first time and hopefully quash a few critisims he's been holding onto of the game for quite some time. Basically he's going to go through it again but this time focus his attention on the story more and see if he can piece it together where it all makes sense, and hopefully find out it appeals to him more than he's been giving it credit for.

But yeah, he's already beaten the game, it's just been a few years.

Definitely worth a replay. I was only 12 or 13 when I played this game, and even I understood it and appreciated the game for what it was. I had a guide with me, and I got every single thing in the game for I was so into it. The storyline was amazing for me. I recently bought another copy of FFVIII, and I plan on playing it in the near future. Why? For memory's sake. Reliving my teenage years, maybe. Or the fact that I just simply love the game! =)

Thanks, I think.

But yea, I probably will give it a shot in a little while here. But you did have a guide with you. See, I didn't cheat. Us non-cheaters might have a little more trouble, ya see. Cause we have to do things on our own. We don't get a fancy little book to tell us how to do everything.

Although, with that game, it might not hurt. Considering I didn't even get... almost any of the things I should have and I normally get them all. Cheat free of course.

I did after so long - not after 4 years like. It's good, but so many flaws with the characters and story. Story still is good mind you.
