| Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy. |

I will admit that FFVIII lacks a backstory, which is unusual for a Final Fantasy title, but the truth is, it doesn't need one. The game's storyline stays entirely within the present day (except for the Laguna dream sequences), and it's because of the complexity of what happens in the present that the storyline is so absorbing. Any of you are allowed to disagree with me, but that's just my opinion.
But whatever. Aztec, I'm glad that you've made your decision, and I don't need to do any more persuading here. Go out and play!!

I would think not. the game had no basic themes, there new junction system sucked being that it couldve been explained in less words, draw system was completely random...is retarded the word. i did not like the main character... he couldve used a little therapy and some anti depressants... i did not figure out the " real" use of Ellones ability, even her real purpose meaning that they really didnt need her to make an even better VIII. Nope. i played it once. beat it. definately not worth the replay!

Hahah I voted yes.
I hate the story line and Squall's personality, and the fact that it lacked depth alltogether, but I still play just for the heck of it. =P

One thing that I didn't like about VIII was that it was way too sci-fi and I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre. If I go into the game keeping in mind that it is more military and sci-fi, then I enjoy it much more. But if I have in mind that it is a fantasy game then I can't enjoy it as much.

I concur with the post above me.
.........Ill concur with anyone who thought Final Fantasy VIII was a waste of time.
You play all that way and there are storyline gaps all over the place!

this game, to my view, has lots of great replay value, due to the fact that it has a card game, and the fact that it's a really great game that you'll want to play it again after you beat it the first time!!

i recently tried replaying it myself. because my friend and i were having debates about FFVII and FFVIII at the time so i wanted to brush up on my knowledge of it as the last time i played it i was 12 and didnt understand or like it.
3 years later when im 15 i try to replay it again - i hate it after a few minutes but still i force myself to play through it - until i reach the 3rd disk - after that i just lost all motivation to carry on playing it.
So i think that if you hated then you'd probably hate it now *votes no*
