thats why seifer became ultamecia's lapdog, and as for seifer having ambtions, noooooo, he just wanted to be subservient to a sorceress.

Quistis likes squall then, or at least thinks she does, so she is trying to get him to feel sympathy for her, she isnt too upset by it, plus she knows what squall is like so what does she expect. And all she is doing is burdening squall with even more problems
Squall saves the world, seifer runs off crying after getting continually beaten by squall and co.

None of the game revolves around seifer, he isnt even the main antagonist.

also squall's distinct personallity distinguishes him from other heroes, he isnt a boring all heroic person, he has flaws but he is still a good guy who saves the world, compared to ima walking cliche seifer, who tries to destroy the world then realises he cant so he runs off to be with fujin and rajin

I'm on the fence for this one...

One the one hand; Squall, a badass fighter, who was a bit too whiny whingy emo kid, who did as ordered and had the odd occaisional freakout. Admittedly he did end up rather cool, but his relationship with Rinoa (*shudders*) turned him away from the number one spot (claimed by Selphie)

However on the other hand, we have Seifer, an initally "cool" kid with his own gang (who SUCKED! but they were still a gang) and a way that made him ooze awesome-ness. His comic relief was helpful in the annoying times too. Plus his take-down of Odin... sah-weet!
But in the end, he transformed into the kind of clingy, hanger-on sycophantical bad guy who got his ass owned everytime by the aforementioned Emo Kid and was basically a parasite for power on the sorceresses.

Therefore, I choose neither.

Seifer is a prick....
due to his wish of becoming "the sorceress's knight" lots of students died and many more lives could have been wasted. I don't know why did he join Edea in her "plans" in the first place....but what he did was wrong. And I still wonder how come he is still alive at the end of the game. What he did should have earned him an execution....I mean...collaborating with the sorceress who wants to take over the world is quite the crime.
Anyway....I think Squall is better. His gunblade is cool, he has a nice limit break list and knows who is evil and who is not(he doesn't join Edea in her conquest). The fact that he is an ass when talking with Quisty makes him look like a moron to me....but at least he is not guilty of killing people...like Seifer is.
Anyway...both have flaws but I prefer Squall.

Why did he join Edea?

Well... he did call her Matron in the beginning, before it was revealed that everyone was an orphan, so its possible he remembered that she was the one who raised them all. But such is never explicitly stated... and that wouldn't really explain why he went over to Adel, and what not.

He joined Ede because Edea has metahuman powers that allow her to do things, such as manipulate Seifer. He didn't want to become her lapdog until she made him want to be her lapdog.
Remember the scene in the TV Station where she talks about his past and how he's still, "A little boy." etc.
She played that fool.

EDIT: And Seifer would've went to Adel, as well, because all Sorceresses would have that ability. He just continually fell for the ploy (I guess..>.>)

No, seifer wants to go, remember he was about to tell squall about his dream then ran off?
and when squall sees him with edea he remembers that, so although its never said, its fairly obvious that being the sorcerer's knight was his dream

This is a tough one alright! There were a lot of things that I found particularly pesky about Squall...But I'm sure that if the roles were reversed, and Seifer was the party leader, I would have found his attitude particularly atrocious as well.

I'm going to say that I dislike Squall's attitude more. After all, he was the party leader, and I thought he was too emotional for the role.

I think seifer was the best because he really tries to get on everyones nerves, unlike squall who just keeps himself to himself which is a bit pathetic really for one the main characters.
