I did not find any moment of FFVIII to be scary although the music on Ultimecia castle was very good plus with the background dark sky and old castle gives me a bit of a rush which is great!
When Squall got pierced in the chest i really did not care because i knew the main character was not going to die although i really would have not cared if he died!

Not really scared by this one, since it happened at the end of the first disc. I had faith that Square wouldn't pull an Aeris on the lead character.
One moment where I did feel kinda scared in FFVIII was when the three characters are in the Missile Base when it explodes. I couldn't think of how they might have evaded the explosion, so it left me questioning whether or not they had died and I'd be getting new characters to my party.

Scared? No Only confused as to why theres a FMV showing Rinoa actually dieing in space. I took me a second time playing through the game to actually understand why we were seeing the certain events that we were shown in those FMVs, but no, it didnt shock or scare me
It shocked me because I didn't know how serious the injury would be or what it would lead to. Of course though, the main character must live on and fight the good fight to rid the evil power ruining the world, etc.
I do want to see a main character actually die in an FF game here soon. I'm not sick and twisted like that, but it would be a shocker to see it actually take place.

Wasn't scared at all. They couldn't have killed the main character at the end of the 1st out of 4 discs. It would have been a nice twist...seeing how that ice chunk through his chest musta hurt him a bit, to put Squall back at level 1.
