Final Fantasy VIIIThe first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy.

FF VIII was, in NO SUCH WAY, difficult. It was so easy, as a matter of fact that, I'm actually starting to think now: were they taking the mik? Seriously, even without using the Junction that much I found this a breeze. Basically though once I concentrated on character's HP and Strength, it was over. I just had to bash the X button and unleash a flurry of attacks until they died. Magics were tooo weak to even aknowledge. The only time a boss caused me problems was when I trained to lvl 100 in the training centre at the beginning of the game (don't ask why) and enemies were much stronger than all my party except Squall, so I was constantly bringing them back to life (but that's only 'cause I wanted them alive to get Exp). Not the hardest by a long shot; one of the reasons I prefered other FF games (still loved the game, though).

Hmm...I didn't find Ultimecia to be hard at all.
I didn't find the game to be hard at all either. The junction system made it ridiculously easy. GF's (except a choice few) and magics weren't even necessary in battle, which is why I never ran out of the magic I had junctioned. I guess it was an interesting idea though.

I REFUSE to sit there in one battle for 20 minutes constantly drawing 100 of every spell, junctioning that to ONE of my characters stats, then doing the same thing for the rest of his stats, and then the same thing for my other two characters. That is NOT fun and takes WAAAAY too long. I junctioned what I had to, but overall, the game puts way to much emphasis on customizing. I mean, you can turn weak magic to strong magic, turn items into magic, blah blah blah. I spent more time in the menu then in the actual game. The game is cool, but its my least favorite FF. And its not as easy as you all say it is, because, once again, Im not gunna sit there and draw, draw, draw for 10 hours to make my characters strong, fuck that, Im sorry.

I haven't heard of VIII being the most difficult Final Fantasy game ever lol. Every time I go to forums, I hear it being criticized about being one of the easiest so I'm not sure how that works. I don't believe it is very difficult at all, it's pretty easy if you know what you're doing. Knowing how the Junction system works makes things a lot easier. I didn't mind drawing magic, it did get boring after a while but I found it was very much worth it in the end.
As for the most difficult Final Fantasy game, I would have to say it would be V! I never got through that one because I got stuck on a certain part and never was able to beat it lol.
