It was the first FF game I played but I wouldn't say that its the best.

No. Never. FFVII takes the title of best FF
While VIII was pretty good, I don't think the characters were given enough attention during the development. Squall clearly was, as you're given a lot of his past and his character comes on a lot throughout the game, but all you're given for the rest of the characters is a little "OMG we were at the same orphanage!!"

FFVIII was a good one, but it wasn't a great one...
Most people would say that FFVII is the best out of all, but I'm old skool 
I say FFI is the best...it took away from my childhood

I really think that it's based on someone's opinions...and that there really is no such thing as "The best FF game ever." Because in order for something to be the best, all the FF fans would have to love the game. Well, it doesn't work that way. One can love VII and hate VIII completely. Does that make the VII more superior to VIII? Not to the eyes of those that prefers VIII to VII, of course.
Personally, I love VIII. There's some likes and dislikes, but I still love it. So does that make it the best FF game just because someone loves it? Nah. It's all based on opinions. I really don't have a "best FF game" opinion though. To me, they're all the best. I love all the FF games. It's just that, some FF games stand out more than the other in my eyes. But that doesn't mean that those that stands out more are the best Final Fantasy games.
Yeah, I think I'm going in circles here. You get the gist.

Well, I haven't played FF VIII, so I can't claim to know much (or anything) about it. But I do agree with what Mitsuki said (which doesn't happen very often). Everyone has their own preferences. The best in the eyes of one person could be the worst in the eyes of another.

while i personally hated FFVIII - and loved FFVII - i can see why it is considered by many to be the best - it has an engaging and lengthy storyline and has a very unique battle system

It will always be the best to me. I dont care if people regard 7 as the best, to me thats their opinion and mines that 8 is truly amazing. It was the first FF I played and I just fell in love with it. Since play it to this day and I first played it back in 1999.

9/9/99 - Never forget.
Unfortunately, FF8 was knocked out of my top three by FF10, but it's a great game. I don't hate any FF game, because they're all great. FF8 has some interesting characters and great gameplay, and usually that's all it takes to get me into a game. The music's pretty good, too. |
