I have to disagree with what your friends say then and state that FFVIII is not the best game in the series, but that is just my opinion and we all have our preferences.

My favourite is 10 with 6 a close second.

12 is high up though too. but I haven't finished it yet.

FF8 is pretty much one of the coolest final fantasy games i've ever played, but it only ranks as my #3....#1 is Dirge of Cerberus(it's still classified as Final Fantasy)....and #2 is FF7.....but it's still really awesome and the graphics rock!

Welcome to the forums......final fantasy 8 will always be regarded as one of the best in the signature series (maybe top 2 or 3) but as for best that would really have to be discussed like they are doing now. For me Final fantasy 7 will always be the best because of the timeline it came in 1997...there were no games at that time that had that 3-d look to it. Besides, final fantasy 7 was not totally easy to beat that you could beat it in 6 hours like some of the games before it could have. Final Fantasy 8 may have had better graphics, a better storyline, etc but nothing will outclass final fantasy 7 for the time it came out. That is why final fantasy 7 will always be regarded as (quite possibly the best rpg game ever made.) Thats not putting final fantasy 8 down, far from that. Its just that number 8 had some pretty big shoes to follow after number 7 paved the way. Although i enjoyed every final fantasy game ive ever played, 7 really started a new wave of rpgs.

I played 6 first and then rest in order and i personally didnt think much of the game as a whole, there were some good bits i cant denie that but i think the top three have to be FF VII, FFIX then FFX

I don't like FFVIII, and from my own personal stand point, cannot wrap my head around why it's popular. But, that's just my opinion. As popular as VII is, there's always VII haters, and that's my favorite FF, and one of my favorite games period. So.......yeah.

as I said in the FF Fans thread...this is not the best rpg game, it's entertaining to play and theres nothing wrong with it, there are worse games in the series and better games in the series.

It may be one of the best, but not the best for me. There are a lot of games that I think are better than FFVIII. It's just a matter of opinion. If you'll say it's the best, then the best it is (only for you though).

I would have to say that both FFVIII and FFVII are my favorites and as such the best final fantasy titles made so far.

This game was very original due to the draw system (which i don´t really like) plus it as triple triad one of the best mini games in FF history in my opinion!

In my opinion it had the best romance out of all of the Final Fantasy games but I wasn't a huge fan of the gameplay or the storyline. Not the best or the worst of the games, but definatly in my top 5.
