I didnt say they couldnt use it. You said that they probably got the name Squall from a reference made in FF9 after FF8 was created. I find that hard to believe.

That's one of the things I liked about Final Fantasy 8. The fact that he was Laguna's son was hinted at alot, but never actually stated. Making the players think for themselves.
And if you do not see all the hints...Well, there is not much hope then

Ultima, yes. You should replay this magnificant game... If you get your in-game Info nearly completed by doing the sidequests, and pay attention to the script, you'll understand my theory (if you read it).

It's very simple to tell that Squall's parents were laguna and raine i figured it out the first time i played. Good thing Laguna didnt hitch Julia or rinoa wouldnt have set squall straight and Squall wouldve been alone for a loooonnnnggg time.

Yeah, Laguna and Raine got together. You know that she has Laguna's kid in the one cutscene. Raine hints at it to Ellone, but doesn't say anything to Laguna that we see. And Squall was old enough to walk and talk when he got to the orphanage, and he consistantly called Ellone 'Sis'.
If that's not enough, here's one more tidbit. Ellone couldn't send anyone back that she did not know personally. If Squall is the only one that was always chosen, doesn't that mean that she knew him better than the others?
