| Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy. |

You don't actually have to lose Odin, do you?
As long as you complete his sidequest after disc 3.
And I think it is possible, seeing as that it's the only place on the world map that isn't blocked off with that strange barrier in disc 4.
Correct me if I'm wrong though...

you are indeed correct, my first time tro FFVIII i did not know of odin's presence in the game, and after discovering it i loaded my game that was at the very very very fricken end, like a corridor away from Ultamacia and went and got him, then about 2 years later i was bored of all my games and decided to replay FFVIII because i love it, the only thing that i hated about replaying it was going thro those god forsaken Propagators again (those alein freaks that are infesting the Ragnerok before you get it) and i recieved odin fairly early this time tho, because i already knew he was there, and when i got to the fight with seifer and he killed it i was pissed, even more pissed than i was when Seph killed Aerith, because after all, Odin is my second favorite character from FF, second only to the great Buhamut
and a little note to those that seem to have issues with summoning him, and those that have him appear constantly... according to most official guide books and other sources throughout the internet, his arival rate is based on Squall's luck stat, the higher it is, the more often he will appear, so if you never cared to use squall, or never cared to up his luck, that may be your issue

I've gotten lucky with Gilgamesh lots of times. Even saved my ass too. I don't know which I like best...Odin or Gilgamesh. No doubt in my mind though, Gilgamesh looks cooler of the two.

Yeah, they're both cool, but I would rather have odin in my group. For old time's sake.

As I've ventured backa nd played FFV and saw how Gilgamesh first arose in the series, I think I lean more towards a Gilgamesh fan rather than an Odin fan now. Also, FFXII's Gilgamesh was a blast as well.

Yea, you can do it... and I would. Odin > Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh funnier than Odin. Odin just better than Giglamesh. And what's with you and all the FF8 topics, Busta?

Yes, you can. Just don't get Odin until you enter the future in Disc Four. Then go and get him from wherever it is you got it from. Then he won't be Gilgamesh anymore.
