And, let's face it, who wouldn't like Squall? 
Hehe, well, back to the main discussion, she does say she realises those feelings weren't love in the way we think it.
Anyway, even if she did love Squall, one year is hardly something to comdemn her for.  I mean, sure, if she acted on it it would be wrong (in the eyes of the law, though, c'mon, one year. People can have 20+ year gaps so long as they're not teacher/student). It's not like one can help their feelings.

When people are young their feelings are all messed up -- thank your hormones. I do believe that she says it was just her sisterly feelings from when they were younger in the orphanage.

I know in a lot of countries 16+ is legal but who says that the game would be going by that law? For all we know it could be 18. The reason I think this is due to a conversation between Relm and Edgar in FFVI.
Relm: What's wrong, lover-boy?
Edgar: ...How old are you?
Relm: Ten... Why?
Relm: Weirdo. I'm going on ahead, okay?
Edgar: Not even a lady yet... Here's hoping you're still around in eight years, kid.
That would suggest that the legal age would be 18 but then again, Final Fantasy is always in somewhere new so this may not correspond to FFVIII.

Yeah the crush is quite obvious in the early part of the game but with squalls cool attitude you could never tell what he was really thinking so i cant say the feeling was mutual.....i think he just looked up to her as a big sister kind of thing though  |
