| Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy. |

No MP in this game?
Man, I think Im asleep half the time I play Final Fantasys.
Ive noticed that there are no MP points that occur in the game.
We draw magic and use it untill we have none left, but we dont have MP bars and use elixers (sp) in order to replinish them. As far as I can remember we dont, but if we do, then I apologise. Its been a while since I played them!
So anyone else see this?

Oh yes. It's one of the reasons i dislike FFVIII so much. the Abscence of MP. It turns Magic into a mere Item...and im usually much more of a Mage-Player so...

I didn't dislike this myself. VIII happens to be one of my favourite games of all time. It probably ties with, or comes before, X and Twilight Princess. Second only to Wind Waker!
Oh, and if you take away the story being terrible, XII is on that list too.
I thought it was different, sure, but I didn't hate it at all. I noticed it pretty early on, but it didn't really occur to me as odd. I accept change quite easily. Hey, I love XII and its battle system!

Doesn't bother me at all, I actually loved the Junction system, and the ony magic I used in the game was aura, and some of the healing magics, nothing else.

eh? it bothers me sometimes because elixirs are rare and if you buy one...it costs much...but that's just how it is!

Yep, I did notice, but since I loved the Junction system it never really bothered me. I liked the traditional MP based systems, but I also enjoyed the change of drawing and stockpiling magic... Use what you have, if you run low, refine or stock more.

I think I was too busy focusing on the junction system to ever really notice the lack of MP. When you think back to it, this is quite a major change in the battle system and is a big reason why so many people hate this game.
Personally I love it MP or no MP!

In a way it was kinda no different than FF1 for the NES. You had a set number of spells that you could use, and when you run out you gotta get somore. I liked both systems, especially the junctioning system. With the right spell, you could have maxed out stats early on in the game.

I noticed it but it didn't really bother me. Magic was pretty useless anyway. The only spell I really used was Aura.

The Junction System discouraged usage of magic which was one of the many annoying aspects of this game, not to mention the ill-conceived storyline.
