Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy.

ill-convinced storyline?? How can you say that?? I think the story was great.
The lack of MP didn't annoyed me a bit. It was my first FF so I really didn't care. But the ideea to stock magic looks cool to me.

The lack of MP was tolerable in the least. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. I'm sort of neutral on the whole things 'cause FFVIII is a different game than the others.

I don't really care because alot of the magic is really powerful and you can get high-level spells REALLY early in the game.
And how can you say the spells aren't good?
Meltdown, meteor, triple, ultima, aura, pain etc are all good.

I won't say that I hate it, but there are some things that I dislike about it. Like if you get a really rare spell and you run out of it instead of just being able to replinish your MP you would have to find the spell all over again.

Also, if you wanted to really increase your stats you'd have to equip some good magic and this always discouraged any use of that magic because your stats would lower if you did.

but other than that, it wasn't much of a problem. When I first played the game I didn't see it as a problem at all because that's how I thought all RPGs were. FFVIII was my first RPG, I think.

I'm actually glad that Final Fantasy VIII has no MP. It's a nice break from most normal role playing games that use MP. Not to mention you don't have to worry about how many Ethers are in your inventory. In some of the FF titles I was usually worried if I run out of ethers before the next boss. Some games don't even sell them, even if they do they're very expensive.

Most spells in Final Fantasy VIII were weak anyways. A level three elemental spell barely did 4000 damage. I was never worried about loosing my spell count.

Yeah Meltdown and Aura were awesome but if you farm the items that can refine into those spells isn't too bad.

Ultima and Meteor seemed a bit weak to me compared to how powerful the spells are in other FF titles.

Some people are just so fussy.

I liked that it didn't have MP, it was new and original and I thought it was pretty neat. I liked drawing the magic even though a lot of others didn't, it didn't bother me really. The Junction system is very useful in my opinion, I liked it a lot.

I noticed it. xD I didn't really mind at all, as I thought it brought a different level as far as battle systems go. Plus, the junction system was quite fun for me. But the Draw magic was quite a bit of a pain in the ass because it was so time-consuming...and it made me NOT want to use any magics at all, for fear of lowering my other stats. =/ So I never really got to enjoy the magics...

But of course, that was during the early periods in the game. When I finally reached level 100, I was more experimental with magics.

The absence of MP didn't really make a difference to me. While it does make the magic like items (and I hate using items just as many other gamers do), I still found myself using magic quite a bit.

Some people say the magic system was too hard because drawing was tedious, but then turn around and say that it made the game too easy because of the way the junctioning system works. I think the system was pretty balanced and was a refreshing change.

I didn't like it so much, I actually missed the MP. There where a few spells I got that I forgot where I drew them from, so eventually I ran out! I'd much rather have the MP so I don't have to worry about running out of spells and going somewhere to draw it, only to run out again and go back and draw it again.
