| Final Fantasy VIII The first game in the series to consistently use realistically proportioned characters, FF8 also threw more of a futuristic mix into the old (Hi-)potion that is Final Fantasy. |

GF Learning Question
I have always left the GFs to learn abilitys in the order they want to, pretty much of thier own accord. I remeber at the start of the game hearing that the order in which GFs learn things might affect thier performance overall, so I figured the default might not be the best but at least I wont fuck it up. My question after this long back story , is does anyone change the order in which the GFs learn abilities? and if so how? did it make an improvement or problem?

o.O Not that I know of, as I'm sure your aware of, they have learned or learnable abilities that boost their attack power or summons speed, but having them learn them in a certain order won't archive any special performance other than what was stated above.
However, GF's do become more compatible with the person their junctioned to. The more and more that character summons them, the more compatible that GF is to him or her by lowering the time the GF takes to arrive when summonsed.

The hell? You just set it to the ability you want. It helps huge, because you not wasting your time learning Boost, when your actually learning Recover, or Revive, or some other ability that is better then boost.

Yeah you should set your own abilities because if you let it set automatically they will first learn SumMag+ and HP+ when there are much more important and useful abilities than that!

I agree with the previous posts, you should level up the things you want and not waste so much time levelling up stuff like summag30%, etc........

My suggestion: learn the abilities that matter the most to you, first. That way you can get them out of the way and move on with the less important ones. I thought Boost was pretty worthless as long as you knew your elements!
Learning all the junctions like str-j, vit-j, hp-j,and so on are definately worth learning first.
Before even going to face Ifrit for the first time, you might want to concider getting the Elem-atk-j then Junction blizzard or blizzara to it.
( by this point, i am already able to draw Blizzaga, Firaga, Thundaga, Curaga, and most other level three magic...I AM A GOD)
If you want more help, PM me

I've always done it my way. I always learn Boost first if that's available then the GF HP+ and Summon Magic + ones and then just randomly choose others. The order you learn abilities doesn't affect their performance at all. The only thing that does, is the partnerships between the various GF's

This is true Cooky. To raise partnerships, try selcting various items. When you select an item such as a North Wind ( Ice magic refined to: 20 Blizzagas, increased partnership lvls: 3 for Shiva) Just try clicking on random items. Some can be used for POWERFUL magic like Demi, all the Agas, Flare, Meteor and Ultima. Thats why its always good to think about the benefits of magic and its junctions, before using items to boost partnership.
All increased partnership does anyway is lets the GF get summoned faster. Thats it. no biggie. I NEVER use GFs unless i need a defense. so basically all i use them for is their abilities and let them take damage for me when i know i really need it, other than that, i dont even use Eden if that tells you anything. I just get all the GFs for their abilities cause theyre really useful. If you have trouble finding a GF, PM me alright.

And the GF's themselves have relationships that determines compatabilities with the character. I can't remember the list, but there are perfect combinations of GF's that you should use for the optimium results. It's stuff like keep Ifrit and Shiva separate etc.

I think hes going to learn well from us Pooley! XD
Having cared more for another GF DOES NOT interfere with the learning rate of abilities. But taking care of your GF is up to you. You Dont necissarily have use your GF.
You could use them to take damage in place of you, and get ALL of them to learn their Junctions and abilities. These are some reasons that I never use GFs in battle. Try it out once Cooky, you might survive longer thinking of your GFs as a line of defense.
