So, which GF's did you always equipt your characters with?

Like for me, Whenever I start a new game Squall HAS to have Shiva or it won't feel right.

So, which Characters get what GF's?

Same here! I always have Shiva with Squall as well because that is what I am used to. Zell usually always starts off with Ifrit and Quezacotl goes with either Quistis or Selphie. The others I usually mix around with the characters depending on what battle is coming up. Leviathan usually goes with Rinoa most of the time but the others get changed around whenever needed.

Haha. Same with me. Shiva has to go with Squall and Ifrit has to go with Zell. It's a force of habit and if I try to change it...it won't feel right at all.

Quezacotl for Squall, Shiva for Quistis or Selphie and ifrit for zell.

I know Squall had Ifrift but I cant remember what the others had.

There were a couple of specific combinations of GF's to junction that I used. These combinations gave a better relationship with the character they're junctioned to, and are therefore more powerful. I don't remember exactly what they were, but it's simple stuff like keeping Ifrit and Shiva equipped to different people, because they're elemental opposites.
Somehow it always came down to Squall having Quezacotl and Eden though.

I don't have a specific combination. Though I prefer to keep Ifrit and Alexander with Squall, Zell - of whom is currently replaced by Edea- with Shiva and Siren, and Irvine with Quezicotl (or however you spell it) and Pandemonia. I'm a long way from getting the good GFs, so gtfo my case.

I typically stick with the compatibility rating though.

Yeah, same here. If the compatibility rating is low for a particular combination, I stay away from it simply because I like my battles fast paced. xD
I can't remember what specific combos I had, but I'm pretty sure I kept Shiva on Squall since the beginning, Ifrit with Irvine, and Quetzacotl on Selphie. Then the whole compatibility thing soared from there.

In the beginning I always need to have Quetzecotl on Squall.
Shiva on Quisty/Zell and Ifrit on Seifer/Selphie.

The game wouldn't feel right to me without those GFs.

I totally affiliate characters with certain GFs, based on a lot of fanwanking about who "deserves" to GF or would best work as a partner for the GF.

Shiva goes with Squall, but if Squall's not in the party (like when he's out in space, or when the others are at the missile base) she goes with Quistis. Both of them work because of their "icy" qualities.

Quez goes to Zell and Selphie, as they're the energy bolts of the party.

Ifrit initially goes with Squall, but I usually transfer him over to Rinoa. At first it was just because Rinoa was my weakest character and the Str junction helped, but after a while it kinda seemed almost romantic... Squall giving the first GF he fights to acquire to Rinoa. Plus, if you wanna continue with the whole personality thing, Rinoa's the fireball.

Siren goes to Quistis, Irvine, or Zell. I affiliate her with Quistis because of the smoldering beauty thing, with Irvine because he's horny for women like Siren, and with Well because... they're both blondes, lol.

Carbuncle, Cactuar, and Tonberry go with Zell and Selphie, as the "cute" GFs, going with the most childlike characters.

Pandemona goes with Quistis, because for some reason I mark Pandemona as a tragic/mysterious GF and feel the same sentiment from Quistis.

Leviathan goes with Rinoa, for a reason I don't know. Maybe because of the water element going with the color of her duster.

Cerberus goes with Squall and Zell. Squall, because I like having Auto-Haste on my most powerful attacker; Zell, because of a certain funny fanfic I love involving the two (yeah, I'm totally dorky).

Diablos goes to Squall, because he's the one that Cid gives the lamp, but also to whomever is considered the "leader". I fanwank to myself that Diablos is like a gift from Cid to Squall, but when Squall can't be the leader of a certain mission, then whomever does happen to be the leader of that mission gets Diablos privileges (e.g. Selphie, when she's at the missile base and Zell, when he escorts Edea in Esthar).

Squall and Zell get Doomtrain. I always acquire the GF in Esthar when Squall is in space. My fanwank idea: Zell gathers the materials to activate the Solomon ring and acquires Doomtrain. When Squall returns from space, Zell gives him the GF, kind of as a token for Squall to remember that Zell is a good leader (and friend).

Brothers go with Zell. Both are kind of Berserker types, totally physical.

Alexander goes with Rinoa, because you draw him from Edea - from one sorceress to another.

Bahamut goes to Zell, because Zell gets special attention at the Deep Sea Research Center and is the only one who knew about it beforehand.

Eden goes to Squall and Zell. Zell, for the same reason as Bahamut. Squall, because it seems appropriate for the hero to have the most powerful GF.
