FFVIII - Did it have the best summon system ever? - Page 4

VIII did have a good summoning system. And the GF's had a lot of valuable skills. Enc-none for instance. After a certain point in the game, there's no point in random battles so I really enjoyed this one. Revive and Recover were awesome too.

I never used them too much in battle (except a choice few) though as I've never really found summons to be all that useful. And the fact that you couldn't skip through any of them (especially Eden) didn't help. I did use all of them at least once though just to see the attacks.

I also liked how some of the GF's weren't just attacks, they were useful aids. I particularly liked Cerberus.

The best summon ever was on finalfantasy10. Because on 8 u can't play whit the summons on there but on 10 u can fight whit the summons. so the best summon is 10 on my account.

FFVIII had a really nice summon system, imo. The Guardian Forces had a lot of useful skills, and I though Junctioning magic and GFs to use abilities and raise stats was a pretty unique and fun idea. What I didn't like was that there was no cost to summoning - it was pretty easy to get through to Lunatic Pandora by relying solely on GF summonings. All in all, I think VIII has my second favorite summon system, right behind X's.

no. the summon ssystem was ffX Because on ffX you can play with the summons. but on eight you can charge up there power to make the move be more effective.

The "summon system" is present on every Final Fantasy game. It's not limited to specifically X just because you can actually control them.

Wow...you can tell who's a N00b and who isn't. xD.

The summon system in VIII was the best because of how customizable you can make them. It was great. Sure, you could do the same for X but it just wasn't the same. You couldn't equip Aeons to anyone in your party and have their stats increase that way. VIII is much better with the summons.

I loved the summon system for Final Fantasy VIII. It was unique, as they all are but it was the most handy one to me. The Summons were all great and had really useful abilities plus they could cause a fair amount of damage if you used the Boost ability. I couldn't stop using them in the first disc because they made things a lot easier! I really like how using the Guardian Forces doesn't cost you any MP like some of the other games, it's an unlimited use. Without them, the game would not have been half as good, their battle and non-battle abilities made things a lot better. I loved them.

I do concur with everyone else here FF8 does have the best summon system so far. Being able to teach your summons abilities that in turn you can equip to your characters to use really added a nice twist. FFX had a decent one as well teaching your aeons abilities but the cost just got ridiculous after a time, and then being able to use only one character, that just shot it down for being the best. The abilities in 8 actually really came in handy like revive and recover so if you had your cure and life spells juntioned to your characters you could use the abilities instead of wasting junctioned magic. Hopefully in a furture FF to come they will incorparate a summon system that holds the best of X's and 8's summon systems. Being able to teach your summons abilities and thus letting your characters use them and making your summon stronger at that, and then having any character able to use whatever summon would kick ass.
