Your thoughts on Sephiroth

I played and beaten FFVII about a year ago for the first time. I thought it was a great game except for one part. Sephiroth. People are always giving him great praise about how bad ass he was. I felt differently about it. He was slightly cool. NOTE: By slightly cool I meant a huge wussy. He looked like a nerd, he stabbed a girl from behind. I mean come on, he's a big wimp. =P

I guess everyone has their own views on characters, but you cannot deny that Sephiroth is a major selling factor for Square. If they need money they do something with Sephiroth and it brings in the money. You cannot fault Sephiroth's almighty selling power. He even advertised Coca Cola, for cryin' out loud.

I didn't think he looked like a nerd. Yes, the outfit is a little outdated, considering everyone got new outfits for Advent Children. Nor is he a wuss.

Sephiroth, Sephiroth, Sephiroth. He does receive so much praise and my thoughts are that he is one of Final Fantasy's, if not the greatest ever, villains. He's well known and so popular. He isn't a wimp at all. He killed Aeris, burnt a whole village down and shows no mercy to even Cloud.

Ah Sephiroth - he is the most memorable video game bad-guy of all time - he killed the only person who was a threat to him - Aeris** - showing no mercy or remorse - he manipulated Cloud over 2 thirds of the game, he held back Holy with the sheer force of his will. He burned down an Innocent village, Almost successfully destroyed the world, has his own followers, survived Death 3 times and he is probably the only person ever who could weild a 6ft long sword

Theres a reason hes the most popular FF villain of all time*

*Kefkas second lol

**And yes Aeris WAS the only one who was a threat to him - As it was only HER who could activate the white materia which could destroy his meteor

I'm afraid Gafgarion and Algus are far better villains than Sephiroth could ever hope to be. The same with Kefka (he at least succeeded at what he wanted to do).

Possibly but NONE of them have or will ever have what Sephiroth has - undying adoration, popularity, fame, and a legion of Fanboys/girls

Therefore he wins by default lol

Sehpiroth was interesting, but not really a bad-ass' (my opinion).

In short, I think he's just the type of guy people love to hate... in a way... Attitude, skills, power... All part of the image.

Unfortunately...

I'm just hoping that someday the legions will wake up from that nasty nightmare that they are having and discover that there are indeed far better games out there than FFVII and what it has wrought upon the world...

1. Kuja
2. Kefka
3. Emperor Palpatine
4. Every villain in Xenogears (Id, Grahf, Gazel Ministry, Miang, Krelian, Ramsus)
5. Every villain in Xenosaga (Yuriev, Margulis, Wilhelm, Albedo, Voyager)
6. Moebius The Timestreamer, The Elder God and the Sarafan Lord/Hylden Lord/Unspoken of Legacy of Kain

List goes on and on.
