How can you say those things about Sephiroth? Sephiroth is God incarnate, man. I was him for Halloween two years ago lmao my friend made fun of me so hard.
Everyone loves the rebel.

I loved Sephiroth because of how fearless and powerful he was. He killed Aeris, burnt a whole village with people living there and constantly tried to destroy the planet using Jenova. He had a strong mind, but it was Cloud who put an end to his plans over and over again.

You guys don't even know.
Seph was a God. He wasn't a pansy, he fought for what he believed in, even if he was a little misguided. Some of the greatest minds in the history of the world were villians... Hitler, for example. Crazy, TERRIBLE man. But he was a genius.
No offense to the Jewish faith, obviously. I happen to be a (non-practicing) Hebrew myself, so don't think I'm condoning his actions. But you can't make someone weak just because they are a bad person.
Sephiroth owns your souls. Deal with it.

Lets stop with that crap about "/insert villain here/ succeeded!". This is BS!
Kefka wanted to build a monument to non-existence: Failed
Sephiroth wanted to use the Tainted Lifestream to reshape the planet in a "space ship" to travel the universe: Failed
Ultimecia wanted to absorb existence and become God: Failed
Kuja wanted to destroy existence: Failed
And etc.
In their ultimate and most important plans, all of them failed.

But they were better villains, and accomplished more destruction then Sephiroth ever did. Though they all inevitably failed, Kefka still became a rule of the world for a period of time. Despite Vayne's death, through his and Cid's actions, Occurian control over man was ended. Vayne also had control over the Empire after his father was assassinated.
All villains in the end are going to fall, but others proved more successful in other tasks they accomplished/set out along the way.

Sephiroth created chaos in the world with Meteor and the Weapons, and if you read "On a Way to a Smile" you will se that the world was very screwed because of Geostigma and the end of Mako(as a source of energy) after his Meteor destroyed Midgar.
And during FFVII he wanted to controll the Lifestream. In AC he created his own version of it. So yeah, like Kefka, we can say that he "succeeded".

His partial success leading up to his ultimate goal, as previously noted, makes him a successful and 'good' villain. Achieving an ultimate goal doesn't make a villain better than the others, nor does it undermine the less successful.
Through sheer spite, animocity and rage, Sephiroth slaughtered. He created an infectuous plague within the life of the world; the Lifestream, and undoubtably caused many to die through it.
Although I deem him terribly overrated, I'd say he was a good overall villain, regardless of others' achieving more accomlished goals.

So we have to read and watch over things to find out the after effects of everything? At least other villains in game didn't need to have a sequel/spin off to explain what really happened thanks to them. If AC, plus other games weren't around, then it wouldn't make Sephiroth seem so accomplished. They could have done a better job in VII, without needing these extra things, to show the full extent of Sephiroths actions. Maybe include a 4th disc or something? ^^ Just a thought
