I always though of it as Cloud's other memory pieces talking to him (the other Clouds Tifa sees in his mind). I can't see what else it could be, aside from Sephiroth/Jenova, but I always pictured the voice as benevolent, rather than trying to lead him astray.

i always found it as the piece that he cant control when he goes all shakky and begins to collapse. Im pretty sure thats wat it was tho. I guess you could call it his subconcious.

I agree for the first few times he gets voices in his head, it could be Zack. It's his style, and it could be some sort of memories from when Zack and Cloud were friends.

I dont see really how it could be zack just because i didnt think zack could get into peoples heads but then again Aeris did so maybe it could be zack. Still sticking with his subconious though

It could be the orginal Clouds talking with the Cloud that took on the Zacks role.
This could also be why he feels pain and falls to his knees as he is tryin to repress his other self from being real as he has tryred to forget his past and be Zack.

Just playing throught he game again and in the hjoney bee inn he has an encounter with a ghostly version of himself and passes out beofre hearing the voices again. Also after the sector 7 plate falls he was a voice and replies ''Sephiroth?''

The mentioning of the Ancients made him recall something what Sephiroth said, because later Sephiroth says it during 'Clouds past'.

The voice is probably Sephiroth messing with his head, since he's got a grudge against Cloudy for messing up his whole grand plan and whatnot. Talking to Cloud in Junon, I feel it's reasonable to assume it's Sephiroth, since when Cloud asks Tifa about it and she avoids the question, it just makes him more curious about it. In the end all of this messing with Cloud's mind leads to a major melt down and results in Cloud giving the black materia to Sephiroth...
seems like a good revenge, and something Sephiroth would do.

My guess goes for either Zack or Sephiroth. But it could be cloud's subconcious. Truthfully I havent a clue.
