Brothers, Mothers, Sisters and Fathers
I couldn't help but notice that in many of the chapters of Final Fantasy VII a lot of people have brothers or mothers etc. Still don't get what I'm saying?
For example, Kadaj from Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. He has two 'brothers' (maybe they are, I'm not sure). He decided that Cloud will be their 'bigbrother'. Their mission is to reunite with 'mother'.
Another one, Weiss (Dirdge of Cerberus) had two brothers Nero and Genesis, so says the secret ending in DoC. Nero is so deeply obsessed about his big brother.
I haven't heard of sisters and fathers yet but I wrote that down to make the title more catchy.
So, what's the deal? Write down your opinions on this.

Its all about Jenova, she's been 'round the block you see
Hmm ok, apart from Nero and Weiss who are actually blood relatives to begin with, most others are connected to Jenova (or in the case of G and Weiss, Deepground and its relative experiment) because they carry her cells. Now with Jenova supposibly being the controlling and main entity she is referred to as 'Mother' whilst the subsidiarys that carry her cells are 'Brothers' and/or 'Sisters'.

Yeah I think it is about Jenova and her cells swimming in everybody's blood. I think that's why they called themselves brother and sister while Jenova the mother. They all become connected.

According to Crisis Core, Sephiroth was told since his childhood that his mother, whom he never met, was named Jenova. His real mother, is, of course, Lucrecia. When he found out Jenova was actually an alien life form(Supposed Ancient) he got all demented, and began talks of "Mother" and "The Reunion".

I bet thats where Eastenders got there inspiration from
Hahahahaha you really nailed it
I understand all the "family" connections (as bizarre and soap-opera-ish as they are), but I do sometimes wonder what the writers were thinking when they came up with it all. I know one of the guys working on the game (Kitase?) lost his mother and that influenced the storyline somewhat, but it is a bit extreme sometimes.

May be the writers of Final Fantasy give great importance to their families which is why they always have these dramatic family plots. (Sephiroth - Jenova, Squall-Laguna, Kuja-Zidane, Tidus-Jecht, Larsa-Vayne). Come to think of it, the script writer must've had some bad family relations.
