Huge materia question
Ive always wondered why exactly it is that cloud and the gang are so intent on rescuing the huge materia from the clutches of shinra...They do not know at that point that it will be in any way useful to them, and why do they not simply let shinra try and destroy meteor with it?

They don't know what ShinRa's plans are with the huge materia though, afaik. And even if they did know that, letting them be in control of a weapon capable of destroying meteor isn't the best thing in the world.

I think it's just to piss off the Shinra at first. Then obviously such a thing holds great power and knowledge of the Ancients so they'd want to be saving that. Meteor wouldn't have been destroyed by the 'Huge Materia bomb' even if they use all 4 anyways.
