Game or Movie?
Did you like Cloud in the game or the movie? Not appearance wise. Because, personally, although the graphics for the game were advanced at the time, I was very happy with the looks of the characters in the movie. But...
Personality wise: Do you think that Cloud was a little more... erm... cheerful in the game? I mean, even after Aeris died, he was sad, but he still seemed cheery like. In the movie he was still very loyal to his friends but he was distant with them.
Maybe it's just me...

Hmm, I never really noticed Cloud being cheerful in the game (It's been years since I've played it.) I thought his personality was the same in the movie. He portrays this carefree attitude, but deep down he really does care about a lot of things, especially his friends.
I agree that he seemed distant...that's Cloud for ya'. Even in the game, I found that it was the same. So yep, same attitude for me.

Yeah, I think it was the same attitude in the game and in the movie.
I didn't really notice much difference except for the appearance, to be honest.
But I guess you could take him being more cheerful in the game because he spent more time with his friends, but only because they had an actual mission, so I kinda get where you were going with this.

Both showed excellence on the creation of the Cloud character. The game set up his personality, his strive to conquer evil, and his bond with the friends he makes in the game.
In the film Advent Children, Cloud's magnificence is bumped up a notch in the beauty of the graphics, his one-on-one's with a few of the villains, and once again...beautiful graphics.
Great in both areas of Final Fantasy VII.

Both add to his character. The game shows how he evolves as a character and the movie shows us the results of that evolution with, like Busta said, beautiful graphics and awesome action.

I liked him in the game more. You could never tell what he was going to do or say. He seemed a bit depressed in the movie, not surprising with what he had.

In the game Cloud was more carefree, that much we know. I guess this was because he was living through mostly; lie's of memories or memories which weren't percise. He seemed annoyed learning about what really happened in Nebliheim those many year's ago when Sephiroth showed him at the Nothern Cavern entrance, but somewhat still... not as depressed as in the movie.
His Personality might have been more depressing to deal with the fact that he had Geo-Stigma and that there wasn't really a known cure for it so he thought he was going to die and just cut off contact with people ...
But I feel like I'm going over things which are obvious. Uh... Game Cloud more I guess he was more enjoyable to watch and you never really knew what he was about to say or do action wise :] .

Compared to the game, yes Cloud was more positive, but you also have to remember that in the movie, Cloud is suffering from the remorse he feels towards Aerith's death. Not to mention he's also suffering from a terminal illness that has no cure and he's certain he's going to die. It's not surprising that Cloud is so melancholy in the movie compared to his game character with what he's been through.

In the game, Cloud was coming up with funny speaches at some points(I can't say actual quotes because I havn't played it in a while and I don't really remember what he actually says). I do remember him to be more funny in the origional game.

I find it odd that Cloud is so depressed over Aeris's death in Advent Children when in the game he tells everyone that they need to let go of her memory.
"Although she should've returned to the planet by now, something stopped her and now she's stuck. We've got to let go of Aeris's memory."
And yeah, he's a little distant in the game, but he could still be funny and cheerful alot of the time. AC just completely changed his personality.
