FF7 - over-rated or under-rated?

What do you say. Over-rated or under-rated?

I say under-rated if i'm talking about how people feel about it. I hate any negative critisism this game gets because it's Square's best game, and imo the best game ever made. I hate the way Nintendo fans (mostly Nintendo fans anyway..) say Zelda is better than Final Fantasy 7. When Zelda is one of the most boring, repetative games i've ever laid eyes on. It's like this.... Nintendo had a flagship title, namely Mario, the whole Princess gets stolen, then someone saves her and there's a big bad boss. That worked a treat and mario sold out everywhere. And it's basically the same with Zelda but with different characters. Let me show you in a table:

Mario >> Link
Princess Peach >> Zelda
Bowser >> Gannon
Yoshi/Luigi >> Navi (and some other character i forgot)

And the storylines are extremely similar.

Now compare these storylines to Final Fantasy 7's. There's no competition. Final Fantasy 7 is about :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII

best to check that for the storyline, because it's so big and complex. So when people say Zelda is better it annoys me, because Zelda and Mario for that matter are simple games. They are also not even RPG's. There's no health. stats etc. You can't level up. You stay doing a repetative thing for the whole game. FF7 can lead you on a huge different path through the game. Plus, Final Fantasy is a MUCH BIGGER GAME. So if you buy Final Fantasy, you're definately getting your moneys worth out of the gameplay.

But you see what i mean? Anyway i'll stop being a fan-boy and let you decide.Is Final Fantasy 7 over-rated or under-rated?

your a very brave man shyne because most fan boys of other ff games will say its over rated while most fan boys of ff VII will say its under rated.

i'm not brave, i'm stupid. But i think this forum is great in that we all like Final Fantasy so i can't see anyone falling out with me too badly...

I wouldn't say it is over-rated but would definitely say it is not underrated. Quite a lot of the time when I see peoples top 10 lists on various sites, FFVII is always somewhere at the top.

yeah thats right. I kinda worded it wrong. I ment that it's under-rated by Zelda fans and the like. I definately don't think it's over-rated though, even though it is the best Final Fantasy i'd say...

I believe that most negitive comments on FF7 are from people who want to be "different."
And if you ask me, the game's under-rated.

Under rated? Far from it. I don't see how it is under rated. The game deserves credit for being good and all, but it's got way too much attention. You hate any negative comments made about it? Well deal with them. FFVII isn't going to appeal to everybody.

Excuse me, but I didn't say I hated negitive comments, it's quite obvious that everything is going some negitive opinions. I'm just saying, that being different could be a motive of negitive opinions. It's my theory, just saying.

..The comment was directed at the thread starter thank you. Even though I didn't mention his name, you would have seen in the first post he didn't like any negative comments. If I wanted to direct it at you, I would have said so.

I explained in my last post what i ment by under-rated, and about the negative comments, most of the time people leave them without backing them up. When i argue for a Final Fantasy game, i always argue with facts and back up what i'm saying. What i ment was, i hate people saying: ''FF7 is crap''.......and leaving it at that. I said why Final Fantasy 7 was better than Zelda and gave points
