Clouds outfit
I was having a chat with my friend the other day in the pub and we somehow got onto the subject of Clouds outfit.
Now, on the artwork, Clouds suit is blue. Cleary is.
However, on my game, his suit looks purple and always has. And Ive played this game on many TVs, so it cant possible be the TV.
Plus Rhea I believe had a picture as her sig once, which had Tifa saying "Yeah, but he wears a purple jumpsuit!"
So which is the correct colour of Clouds outfit and do you have a purple or blue one on your copy? Sorry if this seems like a pointless topic, but Im curious now. My friend has said its a waste of time as the artist have clearly coloured it blue.

Clouds outfit is Purple, the colors in the sketches aren't that accurate anyway, Tifa was shown with a Black top and red shirt i believe, and Aerith was shown with Blond hair...But yeah, Clouds outfits purple

It only appears purple in game kids.
Think about it, I mean what military force would have purple uniforms? Most Military attire is either blue or camoflauge; never purple.
Not to mention that Cloud is the only soldier in the entire game to wear a purple uniform. The rest of ShinRa's soldiers wear Blue.
It's just to make him stand out I say. =]

It's probably because Zack was a first-ckass Soldier, how many more of them do we see in the game? Except Clouds assimilation of one, none.
So im guessing that Purple is for first Class SOLDIERS 
i cracked the code

I know, that's what I was thinking for a minute too.
But...then I thought...throughout the entire game, ShinRa is sending soldiers after Cloud's crew. They constantly encounter ShinRa's forces.
Even when they were taken captive in Junon, and there are soldiers everywhere...no one is wearing purple. =x
So basically...even though ShinRa knew what a threat Cloud's party was...they only sent army doofs after them the entire time? =\

it could be because they sent all the 1st class SOLDIERs looking for Sephiroth, since he murdered the president and all. leaving only the grunts to go after Cloud and Co.
plus after they find Sephiroth theres the whole weapon thing so soldier would be too busy trying to protect the Shinra to hunt down cloud and co.

I've always thought it was blue...with a hint of purplish color, but definitely blue. Game or movie, it's always been blue or dark blue to me. If in any case I am wrong, then perhaps his clothing is dark purple that comes extremely close to being blue...

cloud is a kick ass Ex-soldier so he was given a different colour to make him stand out from the other weaker soldiers
