I think he would have worn boxers. He would have suffered through the physical discomfort while fighting in order to have a sense of freedom, plus he'd want to look cool if he had to take off his pants for some reason. I just can't picture Cloud wearing briefs.
As for the color, I'm thinking whatever it was, it'd be solid, not checkered or something like that.

See I think when he was in battle and such he went briefs due to him needing to wear something to keep comfort when active.
Otherwise I think he mainly wore a Toga in his private time alone in his home at night.

I see briefs as sensible mens underwear, so I can see Cloud wearing them. Boxers to me seem more dudeish and Zell like.

hmmmm never actuallly thought about it until now.... for good reason now that i think about it i would have to say that Cloud would be the type of guy to wear boxers... having said that (goes out and buys a pair of boxers)

Maybe he's part Scottish and wears kilts. He may like to air out a bit at times, maybe feel a little more "Free" when he plays his bagpipes and takes Tifa on walks on the beach.

I've always thought Cloud had a thing for women's underwear. I can picture him in a slik thong, but seeing as that wasn't an option i went for boxers.

No way does he way power ranger breifs - he ways Pokemon boxer shorts, just because he needs his room and pokemon rocks his socks - plus more room = more space for dead hands - IE aeris - but i didnt say that.....
