Remember Dyne?
I know under the waves of terrible storytelling that is the Compilation that it's hard to recall the littler parts of the original FF7 game, but Barret's subplot with Dyne was one of the best parts of the game in my honest opinion.
I not only found him a compelling and sympathetic character, I found him rather cool and wish he hadn't chosen to kill himself.

Yeah, I remember Dyne. I remember how Dyne was part of an awesome, tragic subplot that didn't focus primarily around Cloud. However, since it didn't focus primarily on Cloud, the bastards down at Square-Enix decided to forget it ever existed and-
Ahem...sorry.
Anyway, yes, I most certainly do recall Dyne. I have to say, for as mind-numbingly boring as the Coral Prison portion of the game was, the emotional confrontation between Barret and Dyne actually managed to make up for it. I did particularly enjoy the parts of the game where we hear about how ShinRa screwed the characters over in the past, which mostly everyone in the party seems to have at least one story to tell about that particular subject. The Barret/Dyne subplot, however, seemed particularly well-executed for whatever reason. Perhaps it's because it doesn't actually have any resolution, and Barret never visibly reconciles with the people of his hometown (at least not that we've seen).
...Too bad the boss fight itself was boring as all hell, though...*cough*

I quite liked it too. Gave a bit of background to Barret and his reasons for forming Avalanche.

True. I would have thought they would have made it into a long battle with Barret and Dyne exchanging dialog to add to the whole 'one on one resolving' thing the pair had going.

I would have liked to have seen more of him tbh, altho he is probably the only character that SE haven't totally whored out....oh him and Johnny....Im suprised there hasn't been a story to do with his travels either xD
But yeah, I liked the whole little story with Dyne and Barrett. Maybe it's just better left alone

Jonnny was awesome. He ends up at Costa Del Sol with some random lass in the game then the next you hear of him he's running some grotty cafe in Edge (On The Way To A Smile: Case of Denzel). What the hell happened there

I thought Dyne was cool. I always wondered though how Barret stayed standing with all of those bullets Dyne would shoot at him during those cut scenes on the cliff.
On the subject of Barret back story, I'd really like to know more about Avalanche in the FF7 world, because like the recent games have revealed about The Turks, there seems to have been way more than what you're introduced to at the start of FF7 vanilla.

Yeah, I pity the fools who made Dyne kill himself. (Sorry, had to do it.) Yeah, I agree. Although he had nothing to do with the main character, he seemed like a great character.

i do remember this part in the game, but i hated it. i mean yea it sheds some light on Barret's past and how north Corel came to be a hell hole but when you fight Dyne and kick his ass (asides the fight being very easy) he goes and commits suicide it just wouldn't happen
