In reply to the OPs Q:
Hopefully slim to none.
After the way SE just let Nomura shit all over Kefka in Dissidia, I really don't want to even imagine what a remake of FFVI would be like under their supervision.

They'll definitely remake FFVI. It's a beloved fan favorite, and Square knows this. I'd say a DS remake is the most probable, but for the Wii, maybe a Wiiware title, would be pretty badass.

I can't believe how many picky graphic whores are on this site...it's quite sad really. Here's why a psp remake would not happen, the psp just doesn't sell compaired to the DS & Wii. Now if you're still worried about it not being pretty enough for you then don't worry, the 3DSi is suppost to go up to 720P so you'll get what YOU want.
Also Square said they're making a Dissidia 2 & I feel it'd to better on the 3DSi than the psp or butt UGLY psp go. For one the Go is download only which is not a good idea just yet, the masses are too stupid to understand what to look for & sales would be much better if purchased instore than online. Here's hoping that Dissida 2 will be for the 3DSi & that they include Sabin, Cyan & Shadow from Final Fantasy VI this time!!

Hey Zero,
I agree with some of your points. Especially about the PSP GO ~ Sony made huge mistake on that one.
But I seriously doubt, that if they made a full 3D re-make, they'd isolate its sales to a single handheld (or console for that matter). For one thing, Sony and Squeenix are tight. They have 2 A games coming out on the PSP - Kingdom Hearts BBS and Final Fantasy XIII Agito. In addition, the PSP's sales are quite high here in Japan, so Japanese studios constantly develop a lot of new IP for it. So many in fact that most of them never cross out into the west.
FF VI has been ported out to other handhelds before, and most of them are on Nintedo. Plus there's FF III and IV that were made exclusively on the DS, Which by the way is an awesome remake. Oh wait, looks like I just put my foot in my own mouth... lol.
Yeah... Square Enix has gone down that road before. Developing for the DS is completely different from Developing for a PSP. So if they do decide to make a 3D remake they will indeed have to choose. I guess it'll boil down to which system they believe will bring 'em more cash.

Whereas I agree with you... on some points... what's absolutely saddening is that most people don't even look at why this happens. The PSP is, and always was, more expensive than the Nintendo. Let's not even mention the difference in price between the Wii and Playstation3. Unless I'm wrong, things that are cheaper, usually sell more =D. When you're older and your kids are begging for a Playstation9, I'm sure that, for 100 bucks, you'd just give them a ExtremeNintendo2000 instead and let'em go work for it if they want better.
Another thing you should keep in mind is that the Nintendo is much larger in Europe than anywhere else, even in Japan. In America? Hmmm...not so big. The Xbox360 actually takes the cake there, and like'er not, the number of American gamers outweighs Europe's dedicated gamers. Hell, half the people I know don't even have new-gen gaming consoles for their pricetags.
Yet another thing you should keep in mind is that most of the people who've purchased the Playstation3 and/or the PSP are mainly gamers, whereas there is a LARGE mass of people who bought Wii for the Wiifit... aaaand probably never touched it again ever since grandma dislocated her femur going apeshit with fitness practice.
Same goes for the Nintendo DS. The whole touch-play thing is a new deal and it attracts people. Suckers them in relatively easily, and once that thing is bought, it's recorded. It's like Final Fantasy XIII. After the magic of the "WOAH, LOOK AT IT!" goes away... they're pretty much stuck with Nintendogs, and... few other good games that don't involve either Pokemon, or Zelda. In fact, the only noticeable games I ever considered buying for the DS are Remnant Wings, which sucks, Suikoden Tierkreis, undoubtly the best RPG on the console, and Pokémon SoulSilver, which will soon just become obsolete with the new Black & White versions coming out.
Now I'd like to go on record here to say I own both of the handhelds and also tabletop consoles, and I love all equally, but if I had to choose unbiasedly, only a moron would ever be capable to say the Nintendo consoles have any sort of comparison. Unless "Link's Crossbow Training" and "Nintendogs" are games you're willing to pit against Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Star Ocean: Last Hope, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare2, Devil May Cry 4 and great other games of the sort, then I'm sorry to say that Nintendo consoles' games are waaaaay too casual to even be in the same list.
Now that I got that off my chest, I'd have to say a remake of Final Fantasy VI would definitely be more appealing, indeed, on the Nintendo DS. Why? I prefer they keep their pixels to themselves and let me have something that'll remind me of an actual remake of a 15 year old game. I agree the PSPGo is a stupid concept, but the PSP itself still has more hardware/software capacity than a Nintendo DS does, and a remake of such an old game for it would either be overdone and lose its' nostalgia, or underdone and be a goddamn waste 'o money.

I wouldn't mind a FF VI remake. I will say, however, that I found the FF III remake to be relentless in its efforts to piss me off. Especially how you couldn't save in dungeons and then at the end of the dungeon you have to do the most frustrating boss fight ever. And I don't know if there's ever a point in the game that you can, but I was never able to buy any Phoenix Downs and Ethers. But I would like to see a FF VI remake, that would be awesome. I still like the original alot, but a version with better graphics would be interesting.

Well they first did 1 + 2 for the PSP, then 3 + 4 for the DS, so my guesses are that they will go in a pattern (like they do with the main series, 1+2+3 for nes, 4+5+6 for snes, 7+8+9 for PS1, ect) so maybe they'll go back to PSP or move onto the new 3DS... who knows? -Bretboy129@gmail.com

With the 3DS just announced, it's pretty safe to assume that the remakes (if they happen) would be on that, with the then possibility of VII/VIII/IX remakes on Sony's next platform after that.
I'm curious though about Vorash's statement about a positivity of Dissidia II, with Sabin. Cyan and Shadow.
A. Where is this confirmation?
B. Why have three characters from one game, unless they're doing three from each game
and C... where is this confirmation?!

Well, you don't have to be curious anymore. There is no Dissidia II. Vorash probably heard another one of the internet's many fabrications and rumours and assumed that it was true.
As for the 3DS, I am actually optimistic that there could be FFV and FFVI remakes on the 3DS. SE once said there are "complications" in remaking those two games on the current DS. Maybe the 3DS will be easier/better to work on.
Do you know what? I quite like the idea of seeing FFVI in that kind of 3D as well. xD
